January 18, 2022: Another Legendary Skin has been added to the R-301. We have included this in the total skin count.

The R-301 Carbine is one of the go-to guns within Apex Legends, particularly for those who like to fight their battles from mid-range. This weapon is one that has remained popular through the many seasons of the game and it is still a go-to pick for many squads.

It is one of four assault rifles currently available within the game, but the only one that utilises light ammo. Two of the other weapons use Heavy Ammo, the Flatline and the Hemlock. The HAVOC (the fourth assault rifle) uses Energy Ammo. Out of all of the weapon categories in the game, assault rifles are one of the most diverse in terms of their ammunition.

On this page, we are going to tell you all about the damage stats, attachments, and skins for an R-301 Carbine. All of the information we are about to give you can be used to decide if you want to use this weapon to become the Apex champion.

Attachments

A great all-rounder, the R-301 can offer so much more with the right attachments. You can add a barrel stabilizer, extended light mag, and standard stock to the weapon.

The Anvil Receiver mod is a game-changer. It boosts damage and lowers the fire rate as well as the ammo count. With it equipped, the R-301 can use single-shot mode to kill a fully armoured enemy in five or six shots.

Review

The R-301 is the best of assault rifles. It doesn’t offer a great deal of damage, but the rate of fire is high enough to offset that and it’s impressively accurate – even at longer ranges. If you’re desperate for a long-range weapon you can switch to single-fire. With an Anvil Receiver attached to it, you might find yourself surprised by how much damage it can do. The only thing against it (other than the low base damage) is the gun’s ammo capacity, but even that isn’t an issue with an extended light mag.

We may class the R-301 Carbine as the best assault rifle in Apex Legends, but the best weapon for you will always depend on your individual style.
