Latest news
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set to release soon, on December 7, 2023. We've included a handy countdown timer below, so you can see exactly how long you have to wait until you can explore Pandora on the back of your Ikran.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora release time
According to the PlayStation store, the game will be released at midnight local time, so keep in mind this countdown timer is for here in the U.K. This means that North America will likely get their hands on the game later than Europe and Asia, but the exact time could be subject to change the closer we get to the release date. We'll update this timer as soon as we know anything different!
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been delayed to 2023 - 2024 now. Though it seems it was originally planned for the end of the year, it will now launch much later.
This does not mean that previous information was wrong at the time. This could have been a more recent development.
Well-known industry insider, Tom Henderson, has revealed that Avatar is due to release on November 18. This could, of course, change in the time between now and release. We'll update you right here if anything changes.
Ubisoft's latest financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2021-22 has shown that Ubisoft plans to release Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones, and other games "by April 2023".
Release date
Ubisoft has confirmed a tentative release date for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. At the time of writing the game is planned to release 2022.
That being said, we're coming up on nearly 8 months of silence since the game was formally announced with no further details on what to expect, so it wouldn't completely surprise us if the game was delayed to 2023.
Trailers
You can get a proper look at the game on the first look trailer, just below:
Ubisoft has also released a second trailer which is more focussed on the games use of the Snowdrop engine. More specifically "how it leverages the new generation of hardware to bring the alluring world of Pandora to life".
Story
As per Ubisoft, here's what Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is all about:
In this new, standalone story, play as a Na’vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a living and reactive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters, and push back the formidable RDA forces that threaten it.
Platforms
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is planned to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Amazon Luna. There are no plans (that we know) to bring the game to PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch. It was announced for Stadia as well, but the service has since shut down.
Will Avatar have multiplayer?
At the time of writing there's no word from Ubisoft on whether the game will include any multiplayer elements to the game.
However, it's worth noting that during the first look at the game, we do see two Na'vi working together to bring down an RDA chopper. It's not clear though if this would be two players working together or AI.
We wouldn't rule out some sort of multiplayer element, perhaps a sort of co-op feature for occasional moments throughout the campaign, if not a proper multiplayer mode.
Price
With the game being a true next-gen exclusive, we would imagine that the game will retail for £60 to £70 RRP or above.
