Batman: Arkham Shadow is the latest upcoming Batman game in the Arkham series. A sequel to the multi-awarded Batman: Arkham Origins, Arkham Shadow will let players control Batman in VR on a quest to defeat a new villain called The Rat King.
Batman: Arkham Shadows will not be available on PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox consoles and can only be played on Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. For Batman fans who already have VR headsets and for those who plan to get new ones to play as Batman in VR, here's everything you need to know about Batman: Arkham Shadow.
When Will Batman: Arkham Shadow Release?
Batman: Arkham Shadow has an official release date of October 22, 2024. Fans who purchase the Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S will also get a copy of the game until April 30, 2025.
Batman: Arkham Shadow Gameplay and Trailer
Batman: Arkham Shadow will feature rhythmic and free-flow combat, allowing for a more flexible and unrestrained VR experience. Players will take control of Batman and will be able to utilize melee combos and tools such as the iconic grapple gun.
Combat in Batman: Arkham Shadow will make anyone who wears the headset feel like the Dark Knight with all the cool combos they can dish out. Indicators will pop out to where the punches should land and attacks from behind can be dodged by following the on-screen prompts.
Players can also take down enemies while perched on a gargoyle or ledge. Swooping down to kick unaware enemies will put Batman in slow motion, making players feel the impact and thrill of stealthily taking down enemies like Batman.
Traversing the wide open spaces in Batman: Arkham Shadow will use mechanics from previous Arkham games such as the grapple hook, the gliding cape, and as well as the thermal and X-ray vision from Batman's cowl. Grapple indicators will show up whenever there are gargoyle statues or any other places Batman can grapple and hook to, making swinging and lurking around the arena more immersive.

What Platforms Will Batman: Arkham Shadow Be On?
Batman: Arkham Shadows will only be available to Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. And don't expect it on PSVR soon. Fans can actually get a free copy of the game should they purchase a Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S.
The reason behind that is that Camouflaj is part of Oculus Studios. That means the game is made to be a Meta Quest exclusive and a "system seller" according to the developers in a Q&A.
