The Lord of the Rings actor Elijah Wood confirmed that he will be playing one of Batman's nemeses in the Meta Quest-exclusive VR game Batman: Arkham Shadow. While Frodo would seem alright with keeping secrets, Camouflaj is excited to share this news via their Q&A video and Elijah will play the role of Dr. Jonathan Crane, also known as the fearsome Scarecrow. Batman's main villain in Arkham Shadow will be the Rat King, and Scarecrow will possibly be a secondary villain in contrast to his role in Arkham Knight.
In Camouflaj's Q&A developer video posted by Batman Arkham Videos on YouTube, Elijah, along with the cast of Batman: Arkham Shadow, announced their roles in the upcoming video game. Elijah mentioned that he is "super intrigued at the notion that this next chapter in the Arkham series would be done entirely in VR" and "playing such an iconic character was such a delicious request". A short clip of Elijah doing a motion capture also showcases a scene where the Scarecrow or Dr. Crane seemingly talks to Batman about his defeat, indicating that at some point in the game, Batman will possibly succumb to the Scarecrow's evil plans.

Some of the original voice cast of Arkham Knight such as Troy Baker and Tara Strong will reprise their roles again as Harvey Dent and Harley Quinn, respectively. Roger Craig Smith will voice Batman, the same as when he voiced the Caped Crusader in Batman: Arkham Origins. Mark Rolston will play Commissioner James Gordon while Khary Payton will play Otis Flannegan aka The Ratcatcher.
Batman: Arkham Shadow will take place after the events of Arkham Origins, and will feature the younger versions of Batman's villains. The Dark Knight in Arkham Shadow will be more brutal and the game will feature interrogation scenes similar to the older Arkham games where the last enemy in a group can be interrogated by Batman. Players will get the chance to grab enemies by their collars and ruthlessly interrogate them for information.
Batman: Arkham Shadow will release on October 22 so be sure to stay updated with the latest gaming news and stories by following Gfinity Esports.
