It's no secret that Battlefield 2042 had a troubled launch. Between a significant refund petition and EA refusing to release sales figures, new reports are suggesting that DICE are well aware of the game's shortcomings, saying they've learned some “valuable lessons.”
Speaking in a new Xfire article, industry insider Tom Henderson claimed that Battlefield 2042 is being considered “a miss” internally, stating that DICE is planning to “reverting a lot of the changes” made to Battlefield in the future. Part of that could include scrapping 128 player battles and specialists.
DICE Reportedly Learned "Valuable Lessons" Over Battlefield 2042
Reportedly, this has left DICE to scrapping some of its additional plans for Battlefield, like making it a "hero shooter" similar to Overwatch and Call of Duty. Henderson claims that's been scrapped thanks to player feedback regarding specialists, though like any rumour reports, this remains officially unconfirmed.
Battlefield 2042 is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, where it recently got updated to include a revamped scoreboard and saw criticism over reused character assets. Stay tuned for more updates as they happen.
