When Was Black Ops 2 Released?

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been setting the world on fire since its release, with its exciting multiplayer modes like the zombie-filled Outbreak, the hype has got fans reminiscing of the previous Black Ops games.

Gameplay-wise, all four Black Ops games are pretty good but numerous fans feel that Black Ops 2 was the series’ peak.

When Was Black Ops 2 Released?

It’s time to feel old as Black Ops 2 was released all the way back on November 18, 2012, for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

This was before fans started feeling all of that Call of Duty fatigue, though it was starting to set in for some players, and the games were still generally well-liked by most players until certain titles jumped the shark.

Fans also remember the campaign for being a little more nonlinear when compared to other Call of Duty campaigns, complete with multiple endings.

The game also has big-name actors like Sam Worthington from the movie Avatar, and Michael Rooker, who many know from The Walking Dead and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Soon after, Call of Duty would try other things that would get a mixed reception from a number of fans (we're looking at you, Infinite Warfare).

It didn’t take long before Activision responded to the backlash, going for more grounded games like COD WWII and the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is available on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, though most fans should probably just get Black Ops Cold War on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
