Cheating is a hugely annoying factor that occurs in every single online game. Since the launch of Warzone, the number of hackers appearing in Call of Duty titles has increased significantly much to the annoyance of players.
During the Vanguard cycle, Activision introduced Ricochet, a brand-new anti-cheat designed to combat players from using third-party software to gain an unfair advantage over the opposition.
Following the worldwide reveal for Modern Warfare 2, Activision has confirmed Ricochet will arrive in Infinity Ward's upcoming title as soon as it launches on October 28.
Ricochet to Feature in Modern Warfare 2
When Ricochet first launched, multiplayer was the last area of the Call of Duty universe to benefit from the added protection anti-cheat provides.
New on Ricochet's presence within Modern Warfare 2 comes from a gathering of content creators and media. Alongside information on future titles using the IW9 engine, Activision and Infinity Ward confirmed the game will have an anti-cheat when it launches.
Even with the anti-cheat active, players are still using tactics to see through walls and lock onto opponents with ease which is hugely annoying for legitimate players.
In addition to Modern Warfare 2, Activision also shared the anti-cheat will launch alongside Warzone 2, the next chapter of the battle royale that releases in 2022 contrary to rumours.
With anti-cheat already working as soon as the Modern Warfare 2 servers are switched on, players should encounter fewer hackers than in Vanguard. As always, some will slip through the net so let's hope multiplayer has a player reporting tool!
