The Light Machine Gun (LMG) category in Call of Duty is often overlooked when it comes to building the best loadout to use in Call of Duty: Vanguard despite the category featuring some immensely powerful weapons. While they may possess plenty of power, the sluggish mobility often sees players steering away from LMGs in favour of assault rifles.
Despite their lack of popularity amongst the community, Vanguard's variety of LMGs can prove to be very strong in mid-range engagements, sometimes defeating ARs. With Season 2 in full swing, the popularity of LMGs could well change in the not too distant future. Having used all four of them in multiplayer, we've managed to determine the best and worst LMG to use in multiplayer. Find out which one tops the tier list below!

Call of Duty Vanguard LMG Tier List
With a range of LMGs to choose from, there are ways to adapt them in order to suit your style of play. With that said, this isn't a ranking of the best weapons to use in Vanguard, more of a list of the best and worst LMGs to use.
S-Tier
- DP27
The DP27 is the most mobile LMG available in Vanguard multiplayer. Its superior movement speed combined with an impressive damage output makes it a viable option to succeed in mid-range engagements. With some additional attachments equipped, it's very hard not to make an impact during a match.
A-Tier
- MG42
- Bren
- UGM-8
- Type 11
While it may not have the mobility of the DP27, the MG42 is still one of the better LMGs to be used. Rather than running around the map, locking down a lane or an objective with it is the key ingredient to success and in order to combat the recoil, mount up on a wall and spray down any opposition with ease.
Perhaps the most unusual LMG to use is the Bren, which features a slightly lower rate of fire, meaning it's easier to control than the MG42. However, the slow fire rate does mean that you are at risk of being outgunned by other weaponry but the addition of some attachments can drastically improve its performance, putting it close to the DP27.
Alongside the other LMGs, the Type 11 is another solid option to use thanks to its surprisingly high levels of mobility. You may be able to move around quickly, but the lack of damage compared to the DP27 doesn't qualify it for the top tier.
B Tier
Despite its immense damage, the Whitley finds itself at the bottom of the Vanguard LMG tier list. It does pack a punch but the lack of mobility is far from ideal when it comes to keeping pace with a Vanguard multiplayer match.
That's all of Vanguard's LMGs ranked from best to worst! As the cycle progresses be sure to check back regularly to see how any new additions compare to the current range of weapons available. In the meantime, check out our tier lists ranking Vanguard's SMGs and sniper rifles.
