The weapon arsenal in Call of Duty: Vanguard is full of variety, especially when it comes to selecting the best assault rifle in multiplayer. With Season 1 Reloaded right around the corner, many have been utilising this particular assault rifle to their advantage thanks to its deadly levels of accuracy guaranteeing kills in long-distance duels.
One particular rifle that is seen in the hands of many was the BAR, a hard-hitting assault rifle with a slow rate of fire and an incredibly high damage output. Despite the high damage, the BAR is slow and feels clunky when navigating the map, but with the right combination of attachments equipped, these flaws can be improved alongside the sometimes unpredictable recoil.

Call of Duty: Vanguard BAR Assault Rifle
Unlike other assault rifles available to use in Vanguard multiplayer, the weighty feel of the BAR combined with the slow mobility means it feels and operates in a similar way to a light machine gun. While its lack of mobility does let it down in close-range scenarios, there are very few weapons that can contend with its long-range performance. But what exactly are the best attachments to equip to further improve performance?
BAR Vanguard Best Attachments
After testing numerous combinations thanks to the reworked Gunsmith, we've found the very best attachments to equip onto this immensely powerful assault rifle:
- Muzzle: A2 Flash Hider
- Barrel: Chariot 18" Rapid
- Optic: ZC2 1.35x Lens
- Stock: Chariot WR
- Underbarrel: M1941 Handstop
- Magazine: .50 BMG 30 Round Mag
- Ammo Type: Lengthened
- Rear Grip: Rubber Grip
- Proficiency: Hardscope
- Kit: Fully Loaded
This set of attachments strikes the perfect balance between increasing the firepower of the BAR and improving recoil levels to maximise accuracy. The combination of Flash Hider and Chariot WR does well to bring down recoil to more controllable levels, especially when the Chariot barrel increases the overall rate of fire by 25%. To increase the already impressive damage output, the 30 Round Mag and Lengthened ammo type provides a bullet velocity increase as well as a slight boost to the BAR's sluggish mobility.
The fast rate of fire can lead to ammunition supplies being depleted very quickly, which is where Fully Loaded comes into its own. As for Proficiency selection, we went with Hardscope thanks to the immediate accuracy increase that takes place as soon as you begin to aim down the sights.
Best BAR Vanguard Loadout
With the best attachment combinations equipped and ready for battle, no loadout is complete without the best Perks, Field Upgrade, and Equipment. Here are the best to choose to create the best BAR loadout.
Perks
- Perk 1: Survival Training
- Perk 2: Radar
- Perk 3: Double Time
This combination differs from the current metagame but with slow and passive play being the key ingredient to success when using the BAR, it's the perfect complement to the weapon. Survival Training provides maximum resistance to any stun grenades, enabling you to maintain your focus on the intended target while Radar shows any opposition on the map that isn't using Subsonic rounds.
Last and by no means least is Double Time. By doubling the length of Tactical Sprint and increasing crouch movement speed by 30%, moving around the map is a much faster process.
Equipment
- Lethal: Gammon Bomb
- Tactical: Stim
This set of equipment may seem unorthodox but both pieces can have a huge impact on your gameplay. The Gammon Bomb explodes as soon as it makes contact with a surface or an opponent, making it the perfect crutch to fall back on if the opposition begins to close in on your location. Stim instantly begins the process of health regeneration which is ideal for getting straight back into the action.
Field Upgrade
- Armor Plates
Even with a slow recharge rate, Armor Plates are incredibly useful especially when the time to kill in Vanguard is rather fast. Equip the plates when attempting to take control of an objective or when overlooking a populated area of the map where the chances of encountering an enemy are high.
