The hype for Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is over 9000. Bandai Namco and developer Spike Chunsoft announced the game sold over 3 million copies just in its first 24 hours.
Sparking! Zero was officially released on October 11. The big sales on day 1 were no doubt helped by the fact that players could get early access if they purchased it beforehand. Even pre-ordering the base edition that didn't include the early access gave fans bonuses like immediate unlock to certain characters.
Even with so many incentives, fans got what they wanted. Sparking! Zero is an absolute blast, with critics praising its gameplay, making the return of the beloved Budokai Tenkaichi series a huge success.
Let's put things into perspective. In May 2023, Bandai Namco proudly announced that both Xenoverse 2 and Dragon Ball FighterZ had surpassed 10 million copies sold.
So, Sparking! Zero is off to a great start on its way to becoming one of the most successful Dragon Ball video games. With a slew of DLC content that will hopefully include characters, stages, and story content, I believe we could see another adventure featuring Goku and friends go beyond 10 million units sold.
This positive tidbit of news comes almost at the same time it was revealed Bandai is canning projects involving Naruto and One Piece amid layoffs.

Dragon Ball fans need not worry, luckily. With the Dragon Ball Daima anime kicking off, Sparking! Zero off to a flying start and the success of prior games using the IP, we could very well see Bandai move forward with a Xenoverse follow-up or even FighterZ 2.
Surefire hits is what the company needs and nothing would print more money for them than a well-made Dragon Ball adventure. Me personally? I dream for a project similar to Jump Force to be taken seriously and deliver the quality fans expect from a massive crossover like that.
