Fans are starving for any news regarding the upcoming Pokémon Legends Z-A so much so that they've started speculating about which mons will be selected as the starters for this new journey.
The first Legends spin-offs took Pokelovers back hundreds of years before the modern stories in the mainline series take place with the 2022 entry, Legends Arceus, letting players explore the Hisui region, known as Sinnoh by the time the events of the Diamond and Pearl games kick-off.
Pokémon Legends Z-A will shift to another iconic location but in a possibly more contemporary time, as the game will be entirely set in Lumiose City, the vast metropolis first seen in Pokémon X and Y.
While the game was announced back in February, very little is known about it, with fans taking to Reddit to start speculation on their own to keep themselves entertained. And what better discussion than to think about the potential starters GameFreak could choose this time around?

For Legends Arceus, which was set in the Hisui (Sinnoh) region the developers chose Rowlet from Gen VII as the grass/flying type, Cyndaquil, the Gen II fire type starter, and Oshawott, Gen V's water starter.
User Totayalee created a very extensive post breaking down who do they think will be the Z-A starters, giving some convincing reasoning behind their decision.
"Now as for the starters I have a belief if this is theoretically how the starters will be in Legend Z-A, they will be: Snivy, Scorbunny, Popplio," Totayalee wrote.
The user goes on to explain that these three are somewhat related to France and its capital, Paris, the real-life country on which Lumoise City is based. Scorbunny is a football-inspired creature, the most popular sport in France and Europe.
For Popplio, its final evolution Primarina could get a mega evolution themed around the famous Phantom of the Opera play, written by Gaston Leroux.
Users refuted the theory, however, adding that it would make a lot of sense to add Torchic as the fire-type starter, taking into consideration that France's national animal is the Gallic Rooster.
It's safe to say that this is all mere speculation and that The Pokémon Company and Nintendo are due for an update on the status of Pokémon Legends Z-A for the sanity of their fans.
