Recently Xbox Director of program management, Jason Ronald, made an announcement on Twitter.

It was in relation to backwards compatibility for previous-gen console games and how they would function on the Xbox Series X and S.

Xbox Series X/S Backwards Compatibility

Jason Ronald has confirmed that all Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games that are playable on Xbox One right now will be available on next-gen.

This is excluding those that use the Kinect.

These games will be available on launch day, November 10th.

After 500K+ hours of testing, we’re are excited to share that all Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games playable on Xbox One today, except for the handful that require Kinect, will be available – and look and play better – on Xbox Series X|S at launch.

He also stated that games which are backwards compatible games will “look and play better” than they did before.

This is due to a number of new features such as Auto HDR, which does exactly what it sounds like – automatically adds HDR to the games.

As well as the above, Series X will be able to increase the resolution of older games up to 4K.

Not only that but the frame rates can be raised from 30fps to 60fps and 60fps to 120fps.
