Some 2103 SHIB addresses have sent tokens to the Shiba Inu Burn Portal since it first launched in April 2022.
Having destroyed 60 billion SHIB since its release, the burn portal remains a key pillar for SHIB burns.
Here’s a closer look at the SHIB Burn Portal users.
Shiba Inu Burn Portal Users
With 2103 addresses now having burned SHIB, some 0.17% of SHIB holders (now at over 1.2 million) have contributed to the burn portal with 3651 transactions.
The top 100 contributors to the burn portal have destroyed 40 billion SHIB, or around 65% of the total. Meanwhile, the top 10 holders have destroyed 40% of the SHIB, or 25.2 million SHIB.
One individual SHIB burner has destroyed 18% of the entire burned SHIB (11.3 million SHIB) through three separate transactions.
A large number of these burners contributed to the burn portal early on in the burn portal’s life. On April 24, 488 users burned SHIB through the portal, while just three days after its launch, 879 separate addresses had burned SHIB using the portal - 41% of users. One week after the burn portal release, 1203 addresses (57%) had already contributed.
Contributions to the burn portal have tapered off in the months following its release. In August, only 192 individual accounts have destroyed SHIB, burning 2 billion tokens.
Alongside general interest, many users have also expressed their frustrations at the burn portal reward delays. The Shiba Inu team also spoke out to criticise Ryoshis Vision - the creator of the burn portal - and its issues with the reward distribution, one of the larger benefits of using the burn portal aside from reducing the circulating supply. Ryoshis Vision has said it is working on solving these issues with the burn rewards.
Looking to the future of SHIB burns, several projects on the Shiba Inu roadmap have vowed to include burns, such as Shibarium and the Shiba Inu Metaverse.
