Elon Musk Shiba dog Tweets pump crypto dog tokens

On February 15 Elon Musk Tweeted a photoshopped image of a Shiba dog sitting at a desk made to represent Twitter offices.

The post gained over 900k likes with 93.2 million views. Comments from Twitter users underneath the post were mixed with confusion and laughter but the top comments all came from dog-themed crypto projects such as Floki and Baby Doge Coin.

Some Twitter users asked what Musk meant by the Tweet and referred to his past history with Dogecoin. Shibetoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Dogecoin, interacted with Musk underneath the headlining Tweet.

A few hours later, Musk Tweeted another photoshopped image of a Shiba dog sitting before a stash of papers. On one of the papers the word ‘Floki’ is written. The official Floki Twitter account, believing that Musk was referring to the dog-themed meme token, thanked Elon Musk for the shoutout.

Although there is no evidence that Musk was calling out or referring to any other dog tokens other than Dogecoin, multiple dog tokens used the Tweets to help raise publicity for their tokens.

Since the Tweets, Baby Doge Coin and Floki are both trending on the cryptocurrency price tracking platform Coingeko. In the last 24 hours, Dogecoin has climbed 6.4% in reaction to the Tweets.
