Shiba Inu To Launch Brand-New Token Called TREAT

The Shiba Inu ecosystem is set to expand with yet another cryptocurrency token called TREAT looking to launch.

As announced in an update by Shytoshi Kusama, TREAT will be used as a ShibaSwap reward, and will have a role in the Shiba Inu metaverse and Shiba Inu Game.

This comes quite a surprise to Shiba Inu holders. As we posted in our previous article about TREAT from March, few ever thought the token would release, until now.

"Yes, you are reading it correctly. TREAT will launch as part of our ecosystem development."

Shytoshi Kusama's announcement of a fourth token in the Shiba ecosystem took everyone by surprise. With so many elements to the ecosystem, few remember the existence of TREAT on the WoofPaper.

However, going forward it seems TREAT will play a large role in many Shiba Inu projects. After the DAO voted to halt ShibaSwap BONE rewards, instead giving this to Shibarium, a gap opened for ShibaSwap rewards. This will be filled by TREAT.

It will also provide rewards for the SHIB Metaverse and the upcoming Shiba Inu Game.

TREAT will also have some role in balancing SHI - the upcoming Shiba Inu stablecoin. Slated to launch in 2022, we aren't sure whether this means TREAT will be the cryptocurrency pegged to SHI, or is more a reference to balancing the wider ecosystem.

This will make TREAT the fourth (or fifth depending on SHI) token, after SHIB, BONE, and LEASH.

Alongside announcing that members of the Shiba Inu Breeds have been allocated a "limited supply of TREAT", Shytoshi also explained why little had been said about the fourth token. "We didn't want to rush another token into the ecosystem," he said. "And its use case must be well defined and outlined."

There's no release date for TREAT yet. With BONE rewards on ShibaSwap expected to run out in the next few months, if it wants to seamlessly replace this token, it could happen soon.
