The Sandbox is one of the most anticipated new NFT games coming out soon, but when is its release date?
The Sandbox first launched as a mobile game in 2012. F1 Delta Time’s developer Animoca Brands bought out The Sandbox IP with the intention of re-launching it as an NFT-based sandbox title on a Polygon sidechain.
Here’s a look at when players can get their hands on The Sandbox.
The Sandbox Release Date
The Sandbox Alpha game is finally live and was launched on November 29, 2021. The game will enable users to get their hands on one of the most immersive Metaverse games, allowing them to earn monetary rewards, all while playing the online game.
The game, which is based on a play-to-earn model, will enable players to earn SANDBOX tokens by completing different quests in the game.
As per sources, the game was finally launched after being in development for four years.
The game is all set to facilitate players with opportunities to monetize their time spent in the game. The game will also enable players to build land, create NFTs and earn the $SAND token which can later be cashed out via a crypto exchanges, or can be staked to earn some more crypto.
The Sandbox Roadmap
While The Sandbox’s official roadmap now seems outdated, it gives us some indication of what to expect in the future.
Aside from the launch of the Alpha, The Sandbox players can expect further LAND sales to continue throughout development. The most recent sale – The Walking Dead LAND Sale Wave 3 - went live on September 9, adding eight new Estates.
Looking further into the future, The Sandbox hopes to add new IPs and premium NFTs in 2021, alongside the official releases of VoxEdit and Game Maker – currently in beta.
The current roadmap suggests a console version of The Sandbox will release in 2022, although this may get pushed back.
By 2023, The Sandbox hopes to have over 5000 games available, and will create The Sandbox DAO. The DAO should allow users to play a role in decision-making for the platform.
