DayZ's Toxic Zones are a new feature introduced in Update 1.14 which add contaminated areas across the map. These toxic zones are covered in fatal gas that can kill players rapidly, but anyone who can successfully navigate these lethal hot spots can also manage to get their hands on some excellent top-tier loot. Just watch out for her even more difficult to kill infected enemies also found in the toxic zones though!

Due to the extreme nature of these areas, players are strongly advised to avoid these areas unless they are equipped with the right NBC suit to traverse the toxic gas clouds.

Assuming you've got all the right equipment, gear and enough firepower to protect yourself, here's where players can find these all-new Toxic Zones in DayZ.

Where To Find Toxic Zones

As seen in the latest update, Toxic Zones are areas in the map that are clouded with green, toxic smoke around it. Both Chernarus and Livonia have Toxic Zones that can be found throughout the map. Some Toxic Zones are permanent (Static) and some toxic zones are dynamic and completely random. Typically you'll find between 3/6 of these dynamic toxic zones in a wide variety of location all across the map.

Normally artillery strikes will occur before a new dynamic toxic zone appears, with a toxic cloud - roughly 75m in radius - settling over the location where the artillery lands.

As per DayZ YouTuber WOBO (below) players have around 1 minute from the time they first here the rumble of the artillery shell to when the gas descends on an area. In addition, players have around 1 minute 25 seconds from the time they hear the artillery strikes to instant death from the toxic contaminated area. The only thing that can save you, is if you're wearing an NBC suit and gas mask.

Without this equipment you better run as fast as you can.

Toxic Zone Maps

So far, both Chernarus and Livonia have two static Toxic Zones. Knowing where they are, players can use the information to avoid them or dive inside them to risk themselves for great top-tier loot.

Reddit User cooltrain7 has compiled two maps that highlight these toxic zones across Chernarus and Livonia, which you can see below.

DayZ Chernarus Toxic Zones

On Chernarus there are two static Toxic zones where you'll find the best high tier loot spawning. One can be found at the Rify Shipwreck, where you'll see the beached cargo ship on the north-eastern shoreline. The second permanent Toxic Zone location is the Pavlovo Military Base on the south-west portion of the map. These are both represented by red circles on the map below, and are roughly 100/150m in radius.

The orange circles are the many different possible locations where Dynamic Toxic Zones could randomly spawn. As mentioned previously, 3/6 will normally spawn on the map, with a 75m radius.

DayZ Livonia Toxic Zones

On the DayZ Livonia map, there are again two static toxic zones where you'll find the best high tier loot spawning. The first location is Radunin village slap bang in the middle of the map in between Lembork and Nadbór. The second static location is slightly further north by Gliniska Airfield next to the river.

Again, these areas are represented by red circles on the map below and have a 100/150m radius.

Before Going In

As the Toxic Zones have extremely lethal toxic smoke, players will need to prepare themselves, first by getting an NBC gas suit to survive. Players will also need a gas mask and filters if they're to survive in this area. The full suit and filtered gas-mask will allow players to walk in this area for an hour before wearing another gas mask with a new filter.
