Destiny 2: Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack Release Time
3 December 2021 -
The final TWAB blog post before the 30th Anniversary release has gone out and details some of the other changes coming on December 7. This includes details on Moments of Triumph, as well as additional QOL improvements that have been announced. Whilst we would love to share all the big changes, it really feels like a lengthy blog post that should be read on the Bungie blog.

First, big thanks to GameSpot for noticing this. In the lead up to Bungie's 30th-anniversary pack coming to Destiny 2, players can grab a bunch of freebies from the Bungie store.
This includes a print-at-home colouring page featuring Gjallarhorn, and a print-at-home papercraft Gjallarhorn. But the most intriguing freebie is a free ebook titled Destiny Grimoire Anthology, Volume IV: The Royal Will.
Normally the Kindle version of Grimoire Anthology would set fans back £12.99/$17.99 at Amazon, but you can get it from free on the Bungie store. So make sure to snag it before December 7.
29 November 2021 -
We're just a little over a week away from the launch of Destiny 2 30th Anniversary Pack so it's safe to assume we'll get some more substantial information with the next This Week At Bungie blog post, coming later this week on Thursday, December 2. We're anticipating a more fully fleshed out roadmap for December and into 2022.
25 November 2021 -
In a surprise move the most recent This Week At Bungie blog post has announced that the Destiny 2 30th Anniversary Pack needs to be purchased on each platform you play on. Supposedly this is because it's considered DLC and not a seasonal extra. Here's the full explanation from Bungie:
The 30th Anniversary Pack will function as DLC (such as Beyond Light or Shadowkeep) and not as Seasonal content. DLC licenses do not transfer between platforms with Cross Save like Seasons do. This means that the 30th Anniversary Pack will be accessible exclusively on the platform it was purchased regardless of Cross Save setup. Players will need to purchase the 30th Anniversary Pack on each platform they intend to access it on.

The latest 'This Week At Bungie' blog post has announced arguably the biggest balance update of the year, which is due to arrive as part of the Destiny 2 Anniversary Update on 7 December. There's a lot to take in, but the main headlines are that Bungie will be making significant changes to class abilities and supers. In general, most changes are planned for PVP, but PVE appears to be staying largely the same. Bungie hasn't revealed any specific Destiny 2 Patch Notes, but there is a substantial blog post detailing the changes. If you want some topline understanding of what's going to change, we highly recommend reading the below thread from @legionlesstv on Twitter. Give it a read when you have 3-4 minutes free.
When does the Destiny 2 Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack Release?
Bungie has confirmed that they're releasing the Destiny 2: Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack "this December", but have unfortunately stopped short of giving fans an official day to mark on their calendars.
If we had to guess, it'll be December 7th or December 14th, as they're both Tuesday's which is tradically when Bungie like's to roll out new updates to the game.
What's included in the Destiny 2 Bungie Anniversary Pack?
Here's what Bungie has shared is coming as part of the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack:
- New pirate-themed Dungeon
- Thorn-inspired Armor Set
- Bungie-themed ornaments and cosmetics
- Claymore Sword from Myth
- And Much More
You can see some of these new armor sets and more in the images dotted across this page.
When is Gjallarhorn coming back to Destiny 2?
Yes, to mark the celebratory occasion the famous Exotic Rocket Launcher from Destiny 1 is set to return.
Like the rest of the content, Gjallarhorn returns "this December" as part of the 30th Anniversary Pack.
However, if you want it, you'll have to earn it as Gjallarhorn will only be available as a reward for completing a new dungeon coming to the game.
30th Anniversary Pack Price
The Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack costs $24.99/£21.99 on all platforms. However it's worth keeping in mind that it's also included as part of the Destiny 2: Witch Queen and 30th Anniversary Edition. That has a confirmed price of $99.99/£87.99, which obviously is quite a bit more expensive, but will also include plenty of content. Here's a full rundown of what you would get.
- The Witch Queen expansion
- Season passes for Seasons 16-19
- Two Year 5 dungeons
- New exotic SMG and catalyst
- A new sparrow
30th Anniversary Free Content
If this is all still a bit too rich for you, do note that the 30th Aniversary Event does also include a lot of free content and updates alongside the paid content. Everything paid has already been mentioned (Gjallhorn and the like), but you can also expect the following content for free when the update/event drops on December 7
- New six-player matchmade activity
- “Iconic weapons to collect” - This could be Destiny 1 Weapons, potentially available vis the new six-player activity.
- “Mysteries to unravel” - Presumably Bungie will introduce some sort of narrative to the event, although don't expect anything too substantial.
- “Rewards that commemorate our long and storied history together” - It's anyone's guess what this could be in reference to, but we'll be sure to keep players updated as soon as Bungie shares more details.
