September 13, 2023: Season 22 is underway and we've updated our guide with the latest tips and tricks on how to earn Divinity.

Destiny 2 has no shortage of amazing weapons to toy around with, however, some are clear standouts in terms of viability, enter the Divinity exotic Trace Rifle.

When it comes to tackling high-end content like Grandmaster Nightfalls, raids, dungeons, and more, the Divinity is still one of the best exotics in Destiny 2 despite being in the game since the release of Shadow Keep back in 2019.

Almost four years later, newer Destiny 2 players are wondering how to get Divinity in 2023. Fret not as we're here to help!

How to get Divinity in Destiny 2

Getting Divinity is not as easy as old exotics in Destiny 2. You can't buy it from the kiosk nor get lucky to earn it as a random drop. So how do you get it?

Well, it's actually a very convoluted exotic quest. We'll try to keep it as short and concise to avoid any confusion. Do keep in mind you need the Shadowkeep expansion for this.

Find The Quest On The Moon

To get things started, go to the Moon using the Sorrow's Harbor Landing Zone. Once you've loaded into the area, head completely straight until you almost reach the edge of the map and turn right towards the red bridge you'll see.

Keep going until you reach the Lunar Battlegrounds area, as soon as you reach a more open-ended area following a section of narrow corridors and big Hive structures, head left while following the wall until you reach a small gap in it for you to walk in.

Clear out the enemies until a big yellow-bar boss spawns, finish it off and the quest will officially start once you pick up the Divine Fragmentation quest.

Step 1: What's this... what's this?

You'll need to get familiar with the Garden of Salvation raid

For this step we need to head to Nessus, where you'll have to investigate Vex Cores in three different Lost Sectors:

  • The Orrery
  • Ancient Haunt
  • The Conflux

Vex Cores look like your standard glowy-white Vex structure. They're not difficult to spot in each Lost Sector. Once you find them, interact with them and kill the wave of enemies that will spawn, interact with it again once you've done this to collect the intel.

Step 2: Defragmentation

This is an easier step. You simply have to kill Vex in either the Garden of Salvation raid or Vex Offensives in the Moon. Now, since we can't go back to 2019 and replay Season of the Undying, your only choice is to boot up the raid and farm some kills.

You need a total of 120 Sol Divisive Parts, so get on it!

Step 3: Core of Nightmares

Now, we must go to Eris Morn and use the Lectern of Enchantment to create an Empowered Decryption Core. You'll need 30 Phantasmal Fragments, you can get these by buying it from the Lectern itself or by farming them.

Step 4: Garden of Salvation puzzles

The final step is incredibly tedious and, in true Destiny 2 fashion, almost impossible to break down without a proper visual guide, which is why we recommend you check out the video embedded below.

Essentially, you'll have to locate multiple hidden rooms within the Garden of Salvation raid. These involve completing puzzles using the light tether mechanic present throughout the raid.

As you might think, yes, you require a full fireteam and a ton of coordination to pull these off. Once you complete these, go through the raid as normal and, on top of all other potential rewards, Divinity should be yours!

What does Divinity do?

Divinity is a fantastic support weapon in high-end content. Sure, it does do a decent amount of DPS, but its true value comes from the Trace Rifle's exotic perk:

  • Sustained damage with this weapon envelops the target in a field that weakens and stuns them. Strong against [Disruption] Overload Champions.
