Ever wished that you could roam around Disneyland without having to travel? Well, the brand new game from Gameloft, Disney Dreamlight Valley, may just be of interest. Announced in April 2022, this free-to-play game will land on consoles and mobile devices, so all Disney fans can build their own version of the magical theme park.
This Disney Dreamlight Valley hub will keep you up-to-date on everything to do with the upcoming game. We'll take a look at everything we know so far, as well as when the game is due out, and how you can get your hands on it.
While the game isn't out just yet, we recommend redeeming some roblox codes in the meantime. Check out our Slayers Unleashed codes and Arsenal codes for combat-based games. We've also got Pet Simulator X codes if you want something that more accurately matches the Disney aesthetic.
When is the Disney Dreamlight Valley release date?
As confirmed at the June 2022 Nintendo Direct Mini, early access for Disney Dreamlight Valley starts on September 6, 2022. It's not yet clear how long this period will last for, but that's when you can try out the game for the first time.
After the early access period, the game is due to release properly in 2023 - again in an undisclosed window. Equally, we don't know if early access will ever close, or whether players will technically be able to play from September 2022 until it leaves early access.
How can I play Disney Dreamlight Valley in early access?
The good news is that Disney Dreamlight Valley's early access will be available on all of the consoles it's due to later release on. Those are as follows:
- PC/Mac
- Xbox One
- Xbox Series X/S
- Xbox One
- Nintendo Switch
- PlayStation 5
- PlayStation 4
- Android/iOS
So far, we do know that Xbox Game Pass subscribers will get free access to the early build. If you aren't on Xbox, then you'll need to purchase the Disney Dreamlight Valley Founder's Pack to get in on it prior to launch.
To register yourself early for access to Disney Dreamlight Valley, you can already wishlist it or check out the game's page on your console's respective storefront. There's a general sign-up page here which is worth visiting too!
Where can I watch the Disney Dreamlight Valley trailer?
Alongside the announcement of Disney Dreamlight Valley in April 2022, there's a reveal trailer worth checking it. It gives you an early glimpse at some of the characters you'll encounter along the way, as well as a snippet of gameplay. Check it out below:
What is the Disney Dreamlight Valley story?
Rather than being totally story-driven, Disney Dreamlight Valley is a bit more of an interactive sandbox for you to explore. That said, there is a plot running through it, which we'll outline for you.
Your playable character — who we presume we be customisable — falls asleep and enters a Disney-themed dream. You'll then make your way into Dreamlight Valley, a customisable Disneyland. From there you'll encounter iconic characters like Buzz Lightyear and Ursula, building your own variant of Dreamlight Valley as you work alongside them. There's one problem plaguing them all though: the Forgetting, a dark cloud covering the iconic Disney castle. It's up to you to get rid of it!
It seems to be quite like other Gameloft titles, where the focus is more on building your own village over completing a proper story. Therefore, while that setup may be your introduction to Disney Dreamlight Valley, it won't be the focus of gameplay.
What is Disney Dreamlight Valley gameplay like?
Yes, the gameplay in Disney Dreamlight Valley is much more important than the story on offer. As per Gameloft, it's a "life-simulator adventure game that puts YOU at the centre of a journey to discover the source of the Forgetting". To do that, you'll have to meet plenty of Disney-themed NPCs, completing quests for them.
Early gameplay snippets have shown the player character running around the world, mining for materials, and placing decorations and buildings in the town. As such, we expect it to be a cross between your classic town-builder and a farming sim like Stardew Valley. Of course, once we know more about Disney Dreamlight Valley, and have more tangible gameplay to go off, we'll update this section.
That's it for our Disney Dreamlight Valley hub! Be sure to stay tuned, because early access to the game's preview build shouldn't be too far away. Meanwhile, feel free to check out our Splatoon 3 hub to see all the key details on Nintendo's upcoming painter-shooter.
