Money does still exist in the post-apocalyptic world of Dying Light 2. Similar to modern-day money, you can use the in-game currency to purchase things from Vendors and Craftmasters. You can buy valuable modifications for your weapons, blueprints for new ones, and other useful items.
Even though The City is close to ruin and its people are constantly at odds, it's still pretty easy to spend your money. It's definitely a lot harder to make that money. You can loot small amounts of money after defeating human enemies. However, there are much faster ways to earn substantial amounts of money in one go. All you need are empty pockets and your survivor sense.
In this guide, we're going to show you all of the ways that you can make money quickly.
How to Make Money
To make money quickly, or indeed to make any money, you need to visit a Trader in any large Safe Zone settlement. You can see which safe zones have Traders by looking at your map. Open the map, zoom in on your chosen safe zone, and you should see a small money-bag icon. That's a Trader shop. When you get to their shop, you can sell them a variety of things from your pockets. Always check the items that you are selling to them as some can be of high value to a Trader and can be used to upgrade items with Craftmasters.
Here are some of the best ways to find things to sell to Traders:
Scavenge
Whenever you are exploring The City or you're on a mission, you'll come across various objects. You can use your survivor sense to scan an area and you should pick up if there are any objects to collect nearby. Even if it seems pointless, loot everything you can in the area. The more items you collect, the more you will be able to sell for money. Even the items that are worth 78 Coins or lower will add up.

Collect Crystals
Crystals are extremely valuable. They're rare to find but their value comes from the story surrounding them. Many of the people in The City believe that the Crystals have healing and protective properties that will stop you from being infected by the virus. They are worth a lot of money to everyone. There are different types of Crystals. All of them vary in price but they are all worth collecting.
Here are the types we have found so far:
- White Crystal Core - 260 Coins
- Green Crystal Core - 390 Coins
- Blue Crystal Core - 650 Coins
Collect Valuables
Crystals can be hard to come by, so here are some other items that we have found are highly valued by Traders:
- Smart Phone - 780 Coins (Artifact Class)
- Old World Wine - 780 Coins (Artifact Class)
- Perfume - 260 Coins (Unique Class)
- Old World Whiskey - 260 Coins (Unique Class)
- Crystal Statuette - 520 Coins+ - This item is found on the bodies of dead survivors.
- Old World Manual - 260 Coins+
- MRE Rations - 260 Coins+
- Artifact Tier Weapons - Misc (typically 100 Coins+)
- Artifact Clothing Items - Misc (typically 100 Coins+)
Avoid Selling Resources
Try to stay away from selling resources like honey and flowers. They aren't worth a lot of money, 2 or 3 coins at the most. These resources and others that are used to craft consumables like healing items or immunity boosters are far more useful in your pockets.
We will update this guide as we learn more ways to make money.
In Dying Light 2, making money to purchase items is just one of the many things you need to think about. You've got different factions of people to deal with who are constantly on the brink of war with one another. This is where having some good weapons at your side can come in handy.
