Elden Ring has seen the strongest opening week in Japan for a FromSoftware game. Selling 188,490 units on PS4 and 90,017 units on PS5, that beat established heavy-hitters like Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
Famitsu reported on the strong opening week for Elden Ring (translated by Nibellion), this joins an increasing set of accolades. Elden Ring also saw a strong player count when it launched on Steam and unsurprisingly, launched to critical acclaim, scoring 95 on Metacritic.

Elden Ring Just Had FromSoftware’s Strongest Opening Week in Japan
Totalling around 278k, that doesn't even factor in Western numbers, where it debuted at No.1 in the UK. Reportedly hitting "2.5x that of last week's big new release, PlayStation's Horizon: Forbidden West," GamesIndustry.biz reports that it's the "biggest game launch outside of the Call of Duty and FIFA franchises since Red Dead Redemption 2," back in 2018.
