Fighting plays a huge role in Elden Ring, with a barrage of difficult boss fights for you to hack, slash and cast your way through.
In truth, even if you don’t have a mod installed that actually gives it one, the game can feel like one big battle arena, where the words ‘too easy’ can never be uttered.
So, how do you make your journey through this gauntlet as efficient and fun as possible? Well, one way to do so is to pick up some top-notch weaponry on your way and some new mods might help you to do just that.
Elden Ring Gets Some Cool New Armaments
The first of the mods in question is called “Historically Accurate Arming Sword”, by modder drybananahippihat.
As the title suggests this mod works best if you prefer your experience to be grounded in reality, exchanging the vanilla longsword or falchion with an early 14th-century model that’ll have you feeling like a proper knight.
Another mod that caters to the history buffs is BenjoKazooie5150’s “Renaissance Swiss Lucerne”, which swaps out the game’s existing lucerne with a more accurate version, which is a little shorter and attacks slightly differently, marching up with its counterparts from the 15th century in our world.
Don’t worry about everything being offensively focused either, with SkeletonMaster0103’s “Resized and Recolored Shields” offering a selection of modified shields to help bolster your defensive capabilities and ensure you can ward off damage as well as deal it out.
Then again, maybe you’ve had enough realism and just want something familiar to accompany you on your travels, in which case snivy101’s “Gaels Greatsword (Replaces bloodhound fang)” might be just what you’re looking for.
As the name would suggest, this one brings Gael’s greatsword from Dark Souls 3’s The Ringed City DLC into the Lands Between, replacing the model, if not the stats, of the Bloodhound‘s Fang and giving you a trusty companion to chop off heads with.
