Many people are calling for Tom Holland to receive an Oscar for Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, there is even more support for the movie itself to win Best Picture. Although actors can win Oscars for their work regardless of the type of movie they appear in, Superhero movies generally aren't considered for Best Picture.
Sony and Marvel hope to change that. They've teamed up to make Spider-Man: No Way an Oscar contender. Bringing in over a billion dollars at the box office may have helped, but it shows Sony and Marvel's dedication to the series.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, producer Amy Pascal said:
"Anything that makes people aware of the movie is something that, obviously, we're all going to give our all to. And [Marvel] has been very generous and supportive. They seem really gung-ho."
I, for one, am all for Marvel's effort to prove that even comic movies are "real movies."
If you don't know, the people who vote for the Oscars must actively view the movie. This includes people like Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier. People in charge hold viewing parties, they try to get people to agree to vote, and it's like an election. It's really just a popularity contest masquerading as a talent competition.
How do you feel about this? Should these movies be taken seriously, or should they stay in the lane of being not taken seriously?
