In her interview with Den of Geek, Jessica Henwick shared many details, including what should be an Easter Egg for eagle-eyed viewers. You should look away from this if you want to be surprised by little cameos here and there.

When Warner Bros. was filming Matrix Resurrections in San Francisco, Venom: Let There Be Carnage was also shooting. Probably to say hi to friends, Tom Hardy walked over to the set. This led to Hardy being cast in Matrix Resurrections for a single scene.

Henwick always hung around the set when she wasn't on set despite not being scheduled to appear. According to Henwick, that also got her into the scene, "Tom Hardy and I are running in the background of one of the scenes. And I'm so curious to see if it made the cut."

Further, she explained that she appears out of character when she appears in the background of certain scenes. Her character, named Bugs, is described as a Captain and a true believer of Neo. She explains:
"I can't wait to get a digital copy of the film, because I'm actually in the background in a bunch of scenes as me, Jess... So if someone zooms in, they'll be like, 'Wait. Is that Bugs in the background, in the mob, running?'"
Henwick's statement is funny because while it's cool to be in the background of a movie, she's already acting in it. The background isn't as cool as being part of a scene. In any case, I am fairly certain that Tom Hardy will appear in the final cut. What studio would miss an opportunity like that?
