A new trailer for Matt Reeves' The Batman was recently released, and fans spotted something ominous that foreshadows a death in the DCEU. Entering the screen is Bruce Wayne's long-standing love affair Selena Kyle, played by Zoë Kravitz. Batman and Catwoman are portrayed in a different light, and one of them might fall by the end of the film.

In the trailer fans also noticed a moment of disagreement between Alfred (Andy Serkis) and Bruce Wayne (Robert Pattinson). While the context will be revealed once the movie is released, this scene teases a rising conflict inside the Wayne household.

Batman May Lose His Soul To The Riddler

After watching the trailer over a thousand times, fans will spot a few moments that foreshadow an imminent death in this edition of Batman. While most believe that Zoë Kravitz's Catwoman will die in the movie, others claim that it might be Alfred.

Both these scenarios were previously depicted in comic books, but to see its adaptation in a live-action movie terrifies fans. Batman has lost loved ones before, and choosing between these two iconic characters will tear him apart.

While Selena might be the one who has Bruce Wayne's heart, Alfred represents his soul. The importance of Alfred's character cannot be put to words, as he is the one keeping Bruce' conscience alive. An early death for either of these two characters will set Batman on a darker path, one which hasn't been explored in movies yet.

On the other hand, James Gordon may also become a casualty in Riddler's war for Gotham's soul. This would present the opportunity to introduce a new character, Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl and Oracle.
