Kevin Feige's critical role in creating and popularizing the Marvel Cinematic Universe cannot be overstated, and it was recently highlighted by former X-Men director Simon Kinberg. Marvel currently holds a hallowed status in popular culture history, which was possible because of Kevin Feige's vision.

Weaving a seamless narrative over a decade is a daunting task, and very few have succeeded like Marvel in crafting the genre of superhero movies. While this meant a lot of new superheroes would get featured on the silver screen, some inevitably got sidelined, at least for now. That's exactly what happened with X-Men, as Simon Kinberg revealed in his recent interview with IGN.

Former X-Men Director Reveals Mutants Future in Marvel Cinematic Universe

When asked about the X-Men characters, Kinberg highlighted that he has no idea about the future of the mutants:

The honest answer is, I have no idea.

He mentioned that he has the utmost faith in Feige's vision to include the X-Men at the proper juncture, believing that Feige will go down as perhaps the "greatest producer" in the movie history.

And the other answer is, Kevin [Feige] knows what he is doing with the MCU. I would argue he's the greatest producer in the history of cinema. Truly. I mean, if you look at it pound for pound in terms of quality and in terms of obviously commercial success, there's no question the latter is true. So I don't know.

Now, with the multiverse's introduction in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, anything is possible. Spider-Man: No Way Home paved the way for iconic characters to feature in the MCU, and fans can expect the same from the X-Men franchise.

Simon Kinberg infers that although it will be difficult to accept new actors as X-Men characters, he's looking forward to what Feige has in mind with the mutants. Perhaps a new cast is exactly what the multi-million dollar X-Men franchise needs to make its MCU debut.
