What is Gunsmith Part 1?

As soon as you reach Level 2 in Escape From Tarkov, the Gunsmith Part 1 quest becomes available. This is the only part of the Gunsmith quest that can be completed without the use of the flea market or LL2 traders, too.

The Gunsmith Part 1 quest will be given to you by the mechanic. Courtesy of the Tarkov Wiki, his dialogue is as follows:

Hello, mercenary. Yes, I am Mechanic. Let's get to the point, did you want to help? I have a lot of work to do today. There’s so little time, and the programmer unit for PLC100 is out of order. And those weapon orders... Anyway, here's why I'm telling you this. I build various weapons with modifications for my clients, and I'll need some help with it. I need you to assemble an MP-133, I won’t have time to build it myself, and I don't have parts for it either anyway. This gun should have more than 47 ergonomics, a laser designator, an extended mag, and less than 850 recoil sum. And compact, too, not more than 4 slots. Build one for me, and then we can talk about more work.

After accepting the quest, it becomes your job to get your hands on an MP-133 weapon, and then acquire two further items to modify it with. Once you've done this, you can turn in your quest (and the gun) and congratulations, the quest will be completed.

How to Complete Gunsmith Part 1

As mentioned, this is the only Gunsmith quest that can be done without using the flea market or LL2 traders. If you have access to these in your Escape From Tarkov game, then by all means use them! Once you've accepted the quest, you'll need three things:

MP-133

This is the weapon you'll be asked to modify by the Mechanic. You can get the weapon from him directly by trading a screwdriver and two elite pliers for it. If you don't have these, we recommend looting Woods or Shoreline to get your hands on them.

NcSTAR Tactical Blue Laser LAM-Module

This item will be sold by Skier at loyalty level 2. Alternatively, you will need to find this item during a raid.

MP-133/153 Plastic Pistol Grip

This item will be sold by Jaeger at loyalty level 1. Alternatively, you will need to find this item during a raid.

Full Specifications

With these items added, the MP-133 must meet the following specifications overall or the Mechanic won't accept it.

  • 60 Durability
  • 47+ Ergonomics
  • 850 Recoil (or less)
  • 4 Cells of Space (or less)
  • Extended Magazine (capacity of 6 or more)
  • A Tactical Device (the NcSTAR Tactical Blue Laser LAM-Module fulfils this)

Once you have all three items, you will need to replace the MP-133's stock with the pistol grip and add the laser. After this, it's time to turn the gun in and collect your rewards.
