Gears of War 5 is coming to Steam when it launches later this year!
The franchise began back in November 7th 2006 with the launch of 'Gears of War', however it didn't make it's debut on the PC until June 11th 2007. Since then, the following games released exclusively released on the Xbox 360 until the release of Gears of War 4; almost ten years later. Now heading into the 6th title in the franchise history, it's newest addition will continue where it's predecessor left off.
This comes as an announcement from Microsoft, where it also lists the Definitive Editions for Age of Empires 1, 2 and 3, stating that the game will officially be coming to steam.
Phil Spencer said:
"Our intent is to make our Xbox Game Studios PC games available in multiple stores, including our own Microsoft Store on Windows, at their launch. We believe you should have choice in where you buy your PC games. We also know that there are other stores on PC, and we are working to enable more choice in which store you can find our Xbox Game Studios titles in the future.”
This is a big deal for PC gamers that have enjoyed their experience with Gears of War 4 since it's release ; it will certainly help to attract a new audience to play the game. Gears of War 5 is yet another major Microsoft title that will make it's way to the platform, including the already announced Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
