Batman: Arkham Knight is a lot more playable on Switch 2, but it’s still not the best way to play this open-world title. Many fans are hoping that an update for Switch 2 owners is coming, but it looks like that won’t be happening, and WB will likely prioritize a whole new version instead. The company is doing that with Hogwarts Legacy after all.
It’s disappointing that Arkham Knight wasn’t updated to run better on Nintendo’s current-gen console. On the bright side, owners who have a Steam Deck can just get it there, as it goes on sale all the time and runs marvelously.
A fan on the Switch 2 subreddit was talking about the various issues still plaguing the Switch version of Batman: Arkham Knight. Even on the new console, this port is still prone to crashing, which has been a constant annoyance for fans of the Dark Knight. The fan actually emailed WB support about this, who then confirmed that the port won’t be getting an update anytime soon.
There’s always a chance that this Arkham Knight will get a brand-new update that will make it play really well on Switch 2. Many fans are hoping for it, since this port is the most complete version content-wise. To this day, it’s the only version of the game that has the Adam West costume and Justice League 3000 skin, outside of the PS4 port.
While many Nintendo fans are sick of hearing this, it bears repeating: if they want to play Batman: Arkham Knight on a handheld, they should consider getting a Steam Deck.
Even though Valve’s PC handheld is showing its age, the system is still pretty great at running older and modern PC titles. Arkham Knight is one of those games, as it looks great on the system and plays just as well. You can put the game at low settings, and it will still look really good, making us wonder how Rocksteady produced such a beautiful title in 2015.
Batman: Arkham Knight can also run at 40 FPS and even 60 FPS on the Steam Deck, which is a lot better than the Switch, PS4, and Xbox One versions. Although this game doesn’t need a better framerate, the fact that it has these options does make it the most essential one for fans. It might not have some of those PlayStation-exclusive costumes, but you can download mods, something you’ll never be able to do on Switch 2 or other consoles.
We’re sure a day will come when Batman: Arkham Knight will get a Switch 2 port and become the best version for any handheld. Until that day comes, get it on Steam Deck and enjoy just how much better this port is when compared to the Switch version.
