Capcom’s latest update to Monster Hunter Wilds has made monsters beefier and tougher to take down, and that’s exactly what players have been asking for since the game's release. Title Update 1.5 brings a wealth of new content, including balance adjustments for underperforming weapons and an Endemic Life viewer that, oddly enough, flew under the radar.

But the real headline? The introduction of 8-Star Monster Hunts featuring powerful Apex monsters, and let’s just say, they’re not messing around.

Is Monster Hunter Wilds Getting Harder?

Absolutely. Title Update 1.5 added even more 8-Star monsters and Akuma’s Street Fighter 6 Collaboration Event.

These 8-Star versions are souped-up iterations of the already fearsome Apexes, essentially the apex of Wilds’ food chain. We're talking about monsters like Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Jin Dahaad, and Nu Udra. Before, only Arkveld had an 8-Star difficulty. Now, the rest are getting buffed too.

That means larger health pools and increased damage output. Even Hunters with fully maxed-out armor are at risk of being one-shotted, or, if you're lucky, two-shotted.

Who is the Hardest Monster in Monster Hunter Wilds Right Now?

Right now, the 8-Star Gore Magala reigns supreme as the toughest monster in the game.

It eclipses everything else in the current roster, even the more recently introduced Mizutsune. Gore Magala is an unhinged, chaotic force of nature with a jaw-dropping 55,000 health, more than Monster Hunter World’s Alatreon.

Its massive health pool makes for a much longer fight. Whereas most hunts in Wilds can wrap up in under 10 minutes, Gore Magala can stretch battles well past that mark.

Will Monster Hunter Wilds Become Harder and Harder in the Future?

Yes, and that’s by design. Monster Hunter games have always ramped up the challenge as new monsters are introduced.

The upcoming Arch-Tempered versions of the Apexes will be even more resistant to Wounding and deal significantly more damage. That’s been a series hallmark for years.

Eventually, the addition of Master Rank (also known as G-Rank) will bring a ton of new monsters and hefty story expansion, though that’s still about a year away.

In the meantime, Capcom is setting the stage for the much-anticipated return of Lagiacrus, which is expected in Title Update 2 sometime in late June or early July.
