GTA 6 has become an immediate talking point for gamers, thanks to the new trailer and screenshots that hint at gameplay features. Because fans like to make theories, there’s hope these new media pieces will hint at gameplay features. It’s one of the benefits of releasing cinematic trailers, since they still become talking points.
Recent screenshots have hinted that GTA 6 might bring back the RPG mechanics from San Andreas. This would be huge since fans have missed this gameplay feature. It would undoubtedly help the new game stand out from previous entries.
Most of this comes from the screenshots of Lucia working out. Going to the gym was something CJ could do in San Andreas, so seeing Lucia hitting a punching bag and doing MMA with people in the trailer could hint toward this. Considering how long this game has been in development, it’s the least Rockstar Games could do.
Controversial streamer Adin Ross previously interviewed a supposed Rockstar Games employee, who mentioned how Lucia could be customized. At the time, many fans thought this would change her hair or clothes in the game, but these screenshots have us hoping for RPG mechanics. We loved how buff or tubby CJ could look in San Andreas, and it would be funny to replicate that for Lucia and Jason.
There still isn’t a lot that separates GTA 6 from other open-world games, so bringing this mechanic back would help alleviate that stigma. We’re sure that this title will have plenty of side activities to keep everyone busy, but this feature's return would be appreciated. Sure, it’s not a “new” mechanic since it came from San Andreas, but fans would still like that.
Many fans often praise San Andreas for being the best game in the original PS2 trilogy, and they would be correct. While some fans prefer the ‘80s aesthetic of Vice City, San Andreas trumps that game in other areas. This entry has everything from the more refined gameplay with RPG mechanics to a personal story that tugs on your heartstrings.
GTA 6 might be set in Vice City, but bringing features from San Andreas would be much appreciated. We’re sure the writing will be good, and fans already have favorite characters, but Rockstar Games needs to focus on gameplay mechanics. Let’s hope the next trailer will focus more on gameplay.
In the meantime, fans can play GTA: San Andreas as part of the remastered GTA Trilogy, which is readily available. Updates have improved the game considerably, removing most bugs and making each entry look far better by adding new graphical and lighting options, finally making this a recommendable purchase.
