As a hero shooter, Marvel Rivals is one of the most accessible in the genre. It does a good job of being easy enough for anyone to pick up and play, but it contains several complexities that make it difficult to master, making it a game that anyone can enjoy.

However, people still need to learn how to actually play the game to get the most out of what it offers and have fun with it. This then raises the question that many new players would like the answer to.

What is the best role to learn Marvel Rivals?

There are three categories of characters to choose from in the game, all of which cater to different playstyles. In my opinion, the Strategist would be the ideal role to learn the game.

Let's break each role down. First off are the Duelists, who are best for those who enjoy being aggressive and who want to be the team's primary damage dealers. Next are the Strategists, who are characters that focus on keeping their allies alive and ensuring they can do what's needed to win. Lastly, there are the Vanguards, which consist of heroes who are the frontliners, soaking up damage and taking hold of the attention of the enemy so that the rest of the team can do their jobs.

Each of the three roles certainly has something to teach, but as for which one provides the most beneficial lessons, it would have to be the Strategists. While it focuses on keeping the team alive, the position is more than just sustaining, as what it entails helps players gain knowledge on essential aspects of the game's combat.

To start, it helps one master the art of awareness. As a Strategist, the job is about helping the team survive situations they aren't supposed to, but that cannot be done if one doesn't know who to protect and when. A player who takes on the role will be forced to keep a keen eye on everyone, thus having a better assessment of the battlefield, and make important callouts or moves that can increase the chances of victory.

Another thing is that being a Strategist incentivizes one to learn more about skills and their cooldowns. All the characters in Marvel Rivals have a unique set of abilities that make them threats, and understanding how and when they'll be used is essential for any player. Nothing teaches that lesson better than being a Strategist, as it forces one to pay attention to the enemy composition and keep tabs on when they might use their powerful skills so that they can be healed, avoided, or prevented.

Lastly, one of the most important things the role teaches is teamwork. Since the point of being a Strategist is to help allies stay alive, that means working in tandem with them. This can result in developing one's communication skills, as it means having to talk with others to better help them or give them the confidence needed to win a match.

While the other roles do have some things to teach, the Strategist seems to offer the best lessons that will improve gameplay. What one can learn from it can even be carried over to other games like Marvel Rivals, something that should be considered when getting started.
