Marvel Rivals has become one of the most popular hero shooters of the modern gaming era, drawing thousands of players with its iconic characters and engaging gameplay. Given its large player base, it should come as no surprise that not everyone will be playing on the same platform.
Some people will prefer to enjoy it on PC, while others opt for consoles. Although the game is certainly fun on both, their competitive scenes offer vastly different experiences. Knowing the dissimilarities between the two could affect one's decision on where to start their ranked journey in Marvel Rivals, so it's best to learn about them sooner rather than later.
People who play the game on PC will have the advantage of better camera control. This is due to the freedom offered by using a mouse, which allows players to look around quickly in any direction they please and be more accurate with their shots. But this means everyone on the platform will have that advantage, which can result in many difficult matches, even in the lower ranks.
When comparing it to playing Marvel Rivals on console, the difference is night and day. The limitations of the controller make the camera movement feel slower than when using a mouse, even after adjusting the sensitivity settings. The aim assist feature can offer some recompense for the disadvantage, but it's still less precise when compared to playing on a PC.
However, this means console competitive matches are also slightly less erratic, allowing more room for error. Because of this, some may feel that it's easier to climb the ranks when playing on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, as opposed to PC, especially for those who have mastered aiming and movement with a controller, despite the limitations.
Another noteworthy difference between the two platforms is their hero meta. Given the previously discussed advantages and disadvantages, some characters that are amazing when used on PC likely won't be as dominant in competitive matches on console, and vice versa.
This means entirely different banning and picking phase experiences for the two. Players will take into account what they, their allies, and opponents are capable of on their platform, which in turn affects the hero choices and how the competitive landscape of PC and console is shaped.
So the best tanks, strategists, and duelists for Marvel Rivals on one platform likely won't be for the other, which can affect where people would rather play competitively, as they'll want to choose the one where they'll be able to play their favorite hero to their absolute best and climb the ranks.
With all that said, it feels that Marvel Rivals' PC competitive scene has a higher skill ceiling than that of the console version, which will be the preferred choice for those who are only looking for the most serious of ranked matches.
If one wants to have a less intense and difficult experience, then it would be best to play the game on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. Not that playing competitively and trying to reach a higher rank on console isn't challenging, especially with its limitations, but the platform differences show it's certainly easier compared to playing on PC.
