Well, the community asked for it, and they got it. It looks like Monster Hunter Wilds’ Title Update 2 has significantly ramped up the challenge for hunters, with players getting carted left and right, leading to multiple quest failures.
Lagiacrus and Seregios are two formidable new monsters that are giving players a tough time. Part of the reason is that they deal significantly more damage even to hunters with fully upgraded armor, and they have tankier health pools that make fights drag on longer.
My first encounter with a Tempered Lagiacrus was with a full squad, and one by one, we were getting picked off during Lagi’s underwater encounter. It’s a particularly dangerous battle since your movement is limited, and I saw firsthand how Lagiacrus completely wiped out our team. The next thing I knew, the quest had failed. Mind you, I had Felyne Insurance, and Lagi still managed to wipe all four of us out.
Tempered Seregios, on the other hand, is another brutal opponent. Steve's appearance in Monster Hunter Rise wasn’t all that intimidating, but here in Wilds, it’s on a whole new level. Its talons cause bleeding and dish out serious damage. My first Tempered Seregios fight was a barrage of relentless bladescale attacks, sending my team of random players into panic mode as the bleeding status effect kicked in. Even with Felyne Insurance, Tempered Steve managed to take down the entire squad.
No joke, this is a great addition to Monster Hunter Wilds’ endgame. Both Lagiacrus and Seregios are fantastic fights that make Title Update 2 well worth the wait. We’ve yet to see optimized strategies for these monsters, but for now, it’s a no-holds-barred brawl. And somehow, that makes Monster Hunter Wilds feel better than ever.
Title Update 2 is a massive leap from Title Update 1. It’s completely changed the perception of the game thanks to how epic the fights against Lagiacrus and Seregios are. Their 8-Star Quests have added a real challenge, pushing Gore Magala and Mizutsune out of the spotlight for now.
At the moment, players are enjoying the chaos of getting carted by these two returning monsters. While some are frustrated by their increased damage and larger health pools, the community largely agrees, these additions are some of Capcom’s best. They’ve taken once-elusive monsters and turned them into full-fledged, unforgettable battles. Lagiacrus’ return is especially impactful for both new and veteran players.
With Title Update 2 bringing in new monsters and layered weapons, Monster Hunter Wilds is starting to feel feature complete. Now, all that’s left is to speculate where Capcom will take us in Title Update 3. A siege monster would be good, or better yet, an Elder Dragon appearance.
