The new trailer for GTA 6 caught everyone by surprise, mainly because Rockstar Games dropped it randomly. While it’s still a mostly cinematic trailer, what we’ve seen may have hinted at some of the gameplay features in this game. Rockstar has also released some screenshots that will help determine what activities players can do.
It’s also worth noting that the trailers we’ve seen thus far are in-game graphics, as Rockstar Games clarified. Even if we mostly saw story content, there’s a chance some of the scenes we saw were gameplay moments. We’ll finally find this out when the game comes out next May, but it’s good to see Rockstar drip-feed more information.
Without further ado, here are some potential gameplay features in GTA 6.
Robberies
One interesting segment from the trailer has Lucia coming from a building and landing on Jason, as a gang realizes their stuff has been stolen. Although this could be a mission, there’s a chance that robbing people stealthily could be a central gameplay feature here. The game keeps GTA 5’s bank heist missions, so robbing people at night could be a new feature.
Previous GTA games have experimented with stealth before, but having dedicated plans and mechanics for robbing people could be the next central feature. Considering how long this game has been in development, we’re sure GTA 6 can pull this off. At the least, it should be a fun side activity for players.
Deep diving
A screenshot from the game also revealed underwater sea life, hinting at some deep diving activities. Based on previous GTA games, this is probably a side activity players can do for extra money and achievements. The last trailer showed that this entry will be based on Florida life, so this is an appropriate mechanic to add.
Players could swim in previous games, but they never made it a primary mechanic. It will be interesting to see if GTA 6 can rival Endless Ocean in swimming mechanics. Given how long this game has been in development, we wouldn't be surprised if it did.
Hunting wildlife
Shooting people in a GTA game is nothing new, but what about animals? Based on the game’s screenshots, animal hunting could also become a side activity for this massive project. Once again, it fits the Florida setting this entry is going for, and we’re sure these animals can put up a fight.
If everything goes well, GTA 6 could replace those odd hunting games usually released on the cheap. We doubt anyone will feel bad about that, especially since those games will still be released regardless of this feature’s quality.
Wildfires
It's not a side activity or type of mission, but it looks like GTA 6 is going to feature wildfires in the game. This is fitting since there have been some wild and tragic fires in North America recently, though we wonder if this will be handled with taste. Hilariously, this could also be an enjoyable thing to do in the game, which is pretty morbid.
So far, that’s every potential feature in GTA 6. Rockstar Games will release more trailers in the future, so we hope more gameplay is shown as we near the project’s eventual release.
