The search for Capcom’s Ace Attorney 7 continues after its absence from the Capcom Spotlight last night. Fans are left wondering whether Shu Takumi’s acclaimed visual novel title is still a pipe dream or has been quietly in development behind the scenes for years.
Where is the elusive Ace Attorney 7? Let’s find out.
More Than 7 Years Since the Last Entry
It’s been over seven years since the last installment of Ace Attorney graced fans. That was Spirit of Justice, a bold attempt by Capcom to evolve the visual novel format with a more modern 3D approach that began with Dual Destinies. It introduced a new visual style that polarized the player base.
Despite the transition from 2D to 3D, many players still prefer the classic look. Over time, however, some fans have grown to appreciate how the 3D style makes everything feel more dynamic, with character sprites showing more emotion than traditional 2D art. Either way, the long-standing debate between 2D and 3D seems to have settled, at least until Ace Attorney 7 is revealed.
Ace Attorney 7 is Real
Ace Attorney 7 appears to be real, according to a Capcom leak from 2020. Compared to other Capcom IPs, the series has a solid chance of receiving a new entry, having sold 13 million copies as of December 2024.
Capcom has remained silent despite obvious signs, offering neither confirmation nor denial. Still, fans are convinced that something is already in the works.
One green flag from all this anticipation is that Capcom has steadily reintroduced the series to new audiences, releasing Remasters and Collections, even producing a series of videos recapping the story so far. As of now, all Ace Attorney titles have been remastered and localized for international audiences. Even the once elusive Ace Attorney Investigations 2 was finally released a year ago.
Now, there are no remaining Ace Attorney games left for Capcom to remaster. That alone gives weight to the idea that something new is coming, perhaps the long-awaited Ace Attorney 7. After all, what’s with all the re-releases and collections if nothing new is coming at all?
When is Ace Attorney 7 Coming Out?
That’s the big question, especially since AA7 hasn’t even been officially revealed. All signs suggest that it’s in development, but there’s no clear indication if it’s arriving this year or the next. Capcom is already deep into promoting its upcoming lineup, including Resident Evil 9: Requiem, Pragmata, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and the Monster Hunter Wilds expansion.
We might see Ace Attorney 7 revealed in the second half of next year, with a possible release date sometime in 2027. Worst case scenario, the game doesn’t exist at all, but that’s something worth an “Objection!” considering the many signs pointing to a new entry.
