bizarre side characters in GTA V

Grand Theft Auto V's world is full of anarchy, criminal action, and outrageous personalities, but some of its supporting cast characters are odd.

These NPCs leave a lasting impression on players through their peculiar objectives, unsettling histories, or strange behaviors. Conspiracy theorists, cult leaders, and unhinged criminals contribute to the game's richness, humor, and unexpected twist.

This list examines some of the most bizarre and memorable supporting characters contributing to Los Santos' ongoing sense of untamed craziness.

Bizarre Side Characters in GTA V

Here are the most bizarre side characters in GTA V, adding chaos to Los Santos streets:

Barry - GTA V

Barry is a political activist and marijuana enthusiast who ropes Franklin, Trevor, and Michael into testing his completely legal weed.

However, after taking a hit, both characters hallucinate wildly different horrors; Michael fights off an alien invasion, Trevor is swarmed by demonic clowns, and Franklin does not hallucinate as he isn't afraid of anything and is used to weed than both.

Barry’s obsession with legalization and his erratic behavior make him one of the strangest NPCs in the game.

Omega – The UFO Conspiracy Theorist

Omega - GTA V

Omega is convinced that aliens have visited Earth and scattered pieces of their spaceship around San Andreas. He asks Franklin to collect 50 spaceship parts, believing they will help him contact extraterrestrials.

His wild-eyed ramblings, a bizarre home filled with junk, and eventual departure in a homemade spacecraft solidify him as one of GTA V’s most eccentric figures.

Jesco White – The Dancing Hillbilly

Jesco White - GTA V

Inspired by the real-life Jesco White, this NPC can be found dancing in the middle of nowhere, completely lost in his own world. He always has a rebel radion on his side and plays the beat while he dances without minding anyone in his surroundings.

He doesn’t speak or react much; he just keeps grooving, and his random presence in the game adds an eerie and amusing touch to GTA V’s open world.

Maude Eccles – The Bounty-Hunting Granny

Maude Eccles - GTA V

Maude is a seemingly sweet, elderly woman who runs a bounty-hunting operation. She hires Trevor to track down fugitives; she'll pay him $5000 for dead target and $10000 for captured alive.

Her cold and emotionless approach to justice is unsettling. Maude's contrast between looking like a harmless grandma and being involved in the violent world of bounty hunting makes her truly bizarre.

Cris Formage – The Epsilon Program Leader

Cris Formage - GTA V

As the head of the in-game cult, The Epsilon Program, Cris Formage is a charismatic yet shady figure who preys on gullible followers. He is in the Truth mission series with Michael De Santa, where he called Michael during Exercising the Truth to let him know he's interested in his progress. If Michael steals money, he'll threaten him for his betrayal.

Cris claims enlightenment but is really just using his cult for money and power. His vague, absurd wisdom and the cult’s bizarre missions make him one of the strangest side characters in the game.

Nigel & Mrs. Thornhill – The Creepy Celebrity Stalkers

Nigel & Mrs. Thornhill -GTA V

This elderly British couple is obsessed with famous people and tasks Trevor with stealing celebrity memorabilia (including an actor’s urine sample).

Trevor met them rummaging in trash bins outside houses in Vinewood Hills. Nigel mistook him for Jock Cranley, but before Trevor tells them he isn't Jock, Nigel asks for a photo and instructs him to throttle him like he did on a show. After knowing he isn't Jock, the couple explained their obsession with celebrities and commissioned him to collect more celebrity souvenirs for them.

Nigel and Mrs. Thornhill's enthusiasm for meeting celebrities turns into full-blown stalking, which is both disturbing and hilarious.

Mary-Ann Quinn - GTA V

Another crazy side character in Grand Theft Auto V is Mary-Ann Quinn. Although she first appears to be simply another fitness-crazy NPC, her violent demeanor and excessive emotional outbursts make her stand out as truly bizarre. Whether she is shouting at random people, scolding the player for being weak, or even asking them to ridiculous sports challenges, each experience with her swiftly devolves into commotion.

Her erratic behavior is exacerbated by her severe mood swings, incessant ranting, and deep dislike of men. Her missions, which include swimming, cycling, and running competitions, are not almost fitness but also about stating her control, and she approaches them as if they were life-or-death situations.

Cletus Ewing: The Eccentric Redneck

Cletus Ewing - GTA V

Cletus Ewing, another bizarre side character in GTA V, embodies every over-the-top redneck stereotype imaginable. He introduces hunting side missions to Trevor, who is obsessed with firearms and wildlife hunting. He proves his so-called skills with a rifle weapon. His enthusiasm for shooting goes beyond just hunting animals; he encourages Trevor to shoot satellite dishes, car tires, and other random objects for fun.

What makes Cletus truly strange is his odd combination of recklessness and laid-back humor. He treats dangerous activities like target practice on moving vehicles as completely normal and shows no concern for the chaos he causes.

That ends our list of GTA V's most bizarre side characters, who bring chaos, crime, and unforgettable moments. These supporting characters, who range from fitness-obsessed to conspiracy theorists and strange hunters, provide the game's setting with complexity, humor, and unpredictable elements. Because of their peculiar actions and outrageous personalities, they are just as exceptional as the main protagonists, illustrating how well Rockstar Games creates dynamic, unforeseen universes.
