Final Fantasy XIV 7.0 is on the way. Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker released to critical acclaim, with many calling it one of the best stories in the Final Fantasy franchise, but it's still not the end of the game, despite the story of Hydaelyn drawing to a close.

January saw the release of Final Fantasy XIV 6.05 and added a not-insignificant amount of content, including the new Savage raid , but fans want to know what the MMO’s future is going to be like.

FFXIV 7.0 is that future, but the details surrounding it are a bit vague at present. Here’s everything we’ve gathered so far about Final Fantasy XIV 7.0.

Final Fantasy XIV 7.0 News

Naoki Yoshida, the director, and producer of Final Fantasy XIV, said there will be a number of updates leading up to Final Fantasy XIV 7.0 during an appearance in the latest Radio Mog Station broadcast.

While Yoshida didn’t go into detail about Final Fantasy XIV 7.0, the director did promise that the patch would lead to some “drastic” updates to the game - hopefully including cross-world play at last - and more details will be revealed in February.

Final Fantasy XIV 7.0 Release Date

As of now, no release date has been announced for Final Fantasy XIV 7.0. The update is still being developed, and Yoshida's divisions are already dealing with delays, so there’s a chance that we won’t be seeing it for a good while.

Though news regarding Final Fantasy XIV 7.0 is pretty vague, Yoshida did promise some drastic changes coming to the game once the update hits, along with new stories revolving around Thancred and Crile.

Endwalker brought the Realm Reborn saga to a close, but Square Enix promised FFXIV will continue with new stories. While it seems a bit early after Endwalker to get anything too substantial, it's possible these new plot threads will at least lead into whatever else Yoshida and his team have planned.

With promises of more updates in February, it looks like Final Fantasy XIV fans won’t have to wait too long to see what will be coming to the game.
