Ready to wipe your team in a brand-new Final Fantasy XIV raid? Our FFXIV Aglaia raid guide is here to help stop the bloodshed. FFXIV 6.1 brings the Myths of the Realm instance to the Endwalker expansion. It's the first of three planned 24-man raid activities with Aglaia, the first, promising to help bring the Haedyln and Zodiark story to an even finer end than the 6.0 main scenario did back in December.

It's one of the stand-out features of the big Final Fantasy XIV 6.1 patch. Since 2.1 debuted the Labyrinth of the Ancients - the start of the legendary Crystal Tower series - Eorzea's finest have enjoyed three large-scale raids with each expansion, with Aglaia being the first of the "Myths of the Realm" trio.

If you're just getting started with the FFXIV 6.1 update, you'll want to check out our FFXIV 6.1 quest locations guide. In it, we list off every major content unlock location, quest title, and even the prerequisite quests you'll need to have completed to unlock the new content.

How Do I Unlock the FFXIV Aglaia Raid?

Unlocking the new FFXIV Aglaia raid is pretty straightforward. Once you're far enough into the new 6.1 MSQ quest, you'll be all set to spot the quest given in Old Sharlayan. Look for the "A Mission in Mor Dhona" quest on the Old Sharlayan map offered by the "Fresh-faced Student" NPC. If you're struggling, point your map to the coordinates X:9.1 and Y:11.5 to find it.

You'll need an average gear ilvl of 580 to put this Aglaia raid guide to use.

What's the Minimum Item Level for the FFXIV Aglaia Raid?

If you're hoping to jump straight into the FFXIV Aglaia raid, you're going to need to make sure your gear is up to the task. To be allowed to queue for the content, you'll need an average item level of 580. If you haven't hit Ilvl 580, you'll need to do so before you can queue.

Crafted gear is a great shortcut, but gear from the new dungeon can help as well. Tomestone gear and Pandaemonium gear should can work, but these two take considerably longer to farm in most sudden cases.

What Is the Myths of the Realm Raid?

The Myths of the Realm raid is the collective term for the three 24-man instances that will play out over the course of the Endwalker expansion.

The first, Aglaia, will debut with the FFXIV 6.1 update, with the other two arriving in 6.3 and 6.5 respectively. The names of these two haven't been revealed yet, but there's a decent chance we'll hear of at least the second at the end of the first. Cliffhangers tend to work that way, at least. We can hope.

Are the Myths of the Realm Raids Based on Old Final Fantasy Games?

Loading...

Right now, it would appear that the FFXIV Myths of the Realm raids aren't connected to any other Final Fantasy game, or even any other Square Enix franchise.

In the past, we've had raids like Crystal Tower repurpose the lore of Final Fantasy III to its own ends, the Yorha: Dark Apocalypse raid bring the Nier franchise kicking and screaming into the MMOs, and the Return to Ivalice content attempt to make the Final Fantasy Tactics/XII universe canon within this one.

But the Myths of the Realm raids look set to follow in the footsteps of the Void Ark raids of the Heavensward expansion in that they're wholly unique narratives. You won't need to have played some other franchise to understand the story it presents, and you won't have too many people going "Ooo!" whenever a new enemy shows up followed by a long and overly detailed life story about how they got served by it in another game 18 years ago.

And that's all you need to know about the first FFXIV Myths of the Realm raid right now. Once it launches, we'll convert this page into a bonafide Aglaia boss guide with all the strategies and tactics you'll need to know for its four big battles. For now, though, why not read up on how to get the FFXIV pod mount? It's a great way to honour the 24-man raids that came before this one.
