Looking to score some easy support points, carry a low-level character, or just absue the special attack system in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes? You'll want to know how to pair up and assign an Adjutant. Pairing up with a partner is one of the cornerstones of the Fire Emblem experience, and it's worth keeping the option in mind.
Working hand-in-hand not only increases your damage output and hit rate in most games, but slowly raises your support level with them as well: which can lead to a whole range of benefits. As such, it's worth doing whenever you can. Other than losing another character you can send to a point on the map, there's no downside.
We'll have a lot more talk about regarding the game and its many systems soon. For now, though check out our Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes review. It might just teach you about some systems you haven't really thought of yet.
How to Set an Adjutant in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes - Pairing Up With Allies
- In battle, open the Tactical Map Menu (+)
- Select the character you want to make an Adjutant
- Drag their arrow over the character you want them to partner with
- Press ZR and choose "Assign Adjutant"
It's really easy to set an Adjutant in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Of course, you can only do this in the heat of battle, though: you can't assign one on the map screen ahead of a fight, or in the camp before you've even decided who your next target is.
To pair up in battle, just open up the Tactical Map using the + button. From there, assigning an Adjutant works in much the same way as getting an ally to heal you or another character. Press A on the character you want to attach to another, scroll over to the character you want to remain on the battlefield, and press ZR.
How to Remove an Adjutant in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
- Open the Tactical Map (+)
- Select the character who has an Adjutant assigned
- Press ZR and select "Remove Adjutant"
Removing an adjutant in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes works the same was as assigning them. In reverse, at least. Given the adjutant won't even appear on the map once they're assigned, you need to select the partner on the Tactical Map screen (the + button menu) and use ZR to pull up the command window.
From there, you should see the option to remove their adjutant. Clicking this will cause the pair to separate, with the adjutant rejoining the battle as a controllable character once more.
What Does An Adjutant Do?
- Increases the stats of the partner
- Slowly accumulated support points
- Joins in with big attacks and special abilities
- Gains experience points
- Can't be killed
The character who you assign as an Adjutant will disappear from the battlefield once they reach their designated character: but that doesn't mean they're out of the fight.
For as long as they're assigned as an Adjutant, they'll occasionally drop into battle to cast some of their stronger attacks alongside their partner. On top of naturally increasing their partner's stats, they'll also earn Support points that can rank up their rapport with the assigned character, further increasing each character's stats.
Best of all, though, an Adjutant will use their own special ability whenever their target does, allowing for some high-damage combos against tougher enemies.
You can even abuse the system somewhat by separating the two characters, using the Adjutant's special first, then pairing them up again to use the partner's own - which the adjutant will then follow up again with their own. It's chaos, honestly.
With that, you should now know how to get the most our of your army. Adjutants can help with training low-level characters, keeping them out of harm's way, while increasing potential damage output. It's a win-win in most cases. Prefer the strategy kick? Check out our list of the best free strategy games for 2022 right now.
