Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 9 was long expected to follow Season 8, but it has been confirmed that Fortnite Chatper 3, Season 1 will arrive next instead. "The End" live event will take place on December 4, 2021 at 4 p.m. signaling the end of Chapter 2 with the finale consisiting of the Island literally flipping over to reveal a completely different side and topography.

Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 1 is expected to drop on December 5, 2021 at 10:30 AM ET / 3:30 PM UTC.

With Chapter 2, Season 8 ending on December 4, with players drifting through the ocean filling the void between Seasons.

Of course, there is always a chance that Epic could delay Chapter 3 a bit, similar to the length of time it took to transition from Fortnite Chapter 1 to Chapter 2,

See you on the flip side! Due to a leak, fans now know that Chapter 3's island will be the opposite side of Apollo Island, as the Island will flip like a coin in the ocean.

As for Agent Jones, Donald Mustard hinted at his return in a Twitter banner image showing Jones in the Zero Point Chamber featured in Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point. Jones can also be seen in the ocean swimming away from a tidal wave caused by the Island's flip in the leaked clip.

There may be a stronger DC tie to the start of Chapter 3 as well, with the Batman Who Laughs currently running amok on the Island after the events of Batman/Fortnite: Foundation. What does the alternate reality version of Bruce Wayne have planned, and is it in the IO's best interest or will Dr. Slone find herself pit against a new villain?
