Alan Wake 2 is right around the corner, a fitting return for an iconic franchise amid the spooky festivities of Halloween. If that wasn't good enough, Sam Lake, creative director at Remedy, confirmed both free and paid DLC are coming post-launch.
Remedy is a studio that heavily prioritises immersive storytelling, so naturally, Alan Wake 2's DLC will have some interesting implications, especially since Lake mentioned that it would be "pretty significant."
Alan Wake 2 free and paid DLC confirmed
During a panel at EGX London, Sam Lake explained that fans could expect at the very least two expansions, named Night Springs and The Lake House. However, no more details were shared since Remedy is focusing on promoting the launch of the actual game on 27 October.
In our preview of the game, we felt the game is shaping up to be a gorgeous and somewhat creepy sequel. With the expertise Remedy has garnered over the past few years, culminating in a hauntingly bizarre and unique experience like Control, Alan Wake 2 could potentially be a sleeper GOTY pick in an already stacked year.
In fact, despite how incredible this year has been, the final months have made certain developers push their titles just because they don't want to compete against the likes of Alan Wake 2.
Such is the case of Alone in the Dark, with the developers openly admitting in a statement to fans that the game's delay from October to January was not to polish some bugs (although they'll take the time to do so regardless), but rather to avoid competing against Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man 2, or Super Mario Wonder, all coming out within a few days of each other.
Will the Alan Wake franchise make its triumphant return in an incredible year for gaming or will it fall by the wayside? We'll only have to wait a few more days to find out!
