The most recent Nintendo Direct might just be the final one for the first Switch, so there was a lot of anticipation surrounding this event. Running at 30 minutes, plenty of big games were revealed during the show, many of which weren’t expected. If this really is the last one specific for the OG Switch, it ended on a high note.
So, without further ado, here are all the games announced during this week’s Nintendo Direct:
Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake
Coming out after the third game’s remake, Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake continues the trend of presenting these classic JRPGs with gorgeous visuals. We’ve come a long way from the Octopath Traveller games, so seeing these titles look better than ever on Switch is a sight to see.
Although we expected a straightforward remake, the ending of this trailer did tease new characters getting in on the action. It’s not yet known how these characters are going to affect the plot, but new content in a remake is always appreciated.
Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake is scheduled for a 2025 release.
No Sleep for Kaname Date: AI Somnium Files
Not willing to depend on AAA games, this Nintendo Direct revealed a brand-new AI Somnium title. This mystery-solving game has players controlling a new character called Dante, who has to use his AI to help an idol escape some sort of death trap in space.
Fans of the series will definitely appreciate the improved visuals and chaotic setting. Interviewing idols and putting them through virtual simulations to crack this mystery is interesting, to say the least.
No Sleep for Kaname Date: AI Somnium Files is scheduled for a July 25, 2025 release.
Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army
Atlus is bringing back the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner series with a new remaster and title. Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army is the new name for Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha Vs. The Soulless Army and we don’t know which one is easier to say.
Names aside, this is a fan-favorite sub-series from the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, so fans are glad to see this PS2-era game return. Hopefully, this leads to more re-releases for other sub-series like Digital Devil Saga.
Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army comes out on June 19, 2025.
Shadow Labyrinth
This creepy alternate take on Pac-Man turned heads when it was first shown off in Amazon’s Secret Level series. Now we know more about Shadow Labyrinth and its definitely a unique metroidvania with a dark concept.
We didn’t expect Pac-Man to turn into some kind of demonic entity this year, but anything can happen. It’s a bold game for sure and one we’re going to keep our eyes on.
Shadow Labyrinth is scheduled for a July 18, 2025, release.
Patapon 1+2 Replay
One of the biggest surprises of this Nintendo Direct, Patapon 1+2 Replay is a remastered collection of these PSP classics. Many assumed that these games were PlayStation exclusives, but it looks like Bandai Namco owns the rights now.
Based on what we’ve seen, this looks like classic Patapon gameplay and that’s all fans want. The demand for this PSP classic has been high and fans were pretty happy with their PS4 versions. We expect a similar reaction for this Switch port.
Patapon 1+2 Replay is coming out on July 11, 2025.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar
Like the Switch didn’t need enough of these farming simulators. Luckily, Story of Seasons is one of the better franchises of this genre and we’re in for another quality entry with this.
Fans might not remember how this series is technically the original Harvest Moon, but that’s another reason for gamers to be excited. It is just another farming simulator, but fans of the genre won’t mind.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar comes out on August 27.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
The highlight of this Direct to many, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is still coming out this year. Like Metroid Prime Remastered before it, this game looks gorgeous and has some intense-looking gameplay that’s getting everyone excited.
With new forms and armor for Samus Aran, this should be her most exciting role yet. Let’s hope that the game is still coming to Switch 1 this year.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond comes to Switch in 2025.
Disney Villains Cursed Cafe
Have you ever wanted to give Disney’s best villains coffee? Well now you can do so with the Disney Villains Cursed Cafe game. With a cute art style and iconic Disney villains, fans of these characters will have a jolly good time.
Cursed Cafe is coming to the Switch later today.
Witchbrook
One of the most anticipated indie titles of the past few years, Witchbrook looks like its going to be another excellent game set in this original wizarding world. If Hogwarts Legacy was too much of a third-person shooter for fans, this should give gamers the wizard school experience they’ve always wanted.
Witchbrook is currently scheduled for a Holiday 2025 release.
The Eternal Life of Goldman
A gorgeous game with hand-drawn sprites, Goldman looks like a good mix of Cuphead and Ducktales. We can’t wait to see more of this beautiful sidescroller and what it offers.
The Eternal Life of Goldman is scheduled for release this Holiday season.
Gradius Origins
Shoot-em-up fans rejoice as this collection of Gradius games will make enthusiasts of the genre excited. Like previous retro collections, fans will be able to change game versions and make things easier with quality-of-life features.
Also, the legendary Salamander 3 is part of this package, so shoot-em-up fans will want to pick this up.
Gradius Origins comes to Switch on August 7.
Rift of the NecroDancer
The follow-up to Crypt of the NecroDancer, Rift of the NecroDancer offers similar thrills but is less dungeon crawler and more Guitar Hero. Fans of rhythm games will enjoy what this has to offer, including sets based on the acclaimed Celeste.
Fans can pick up Rift of the NecroDancer later today on Switch.
Tamagotchi Plaza
Ever wanted to have an Animal Crossing-style game with Tamagotchi? Well, now you can with this adorable-looking game.
Gamers will be able to pick up Tamagotchi Plaza for Switch on June 27.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A
A new gameplay showcase for Pokémon Legends: Z-A was shown. New elements of the city’s lore were revealed, showing how different battles are with the day and night system. Sadly, there’s still no release date but the game will be coming out later this year.
As previous showcases have said, Legends: Z-A is coming to Switch in late 2025.
Rhythm Heaven Groove
This game was a major surprise to long-time Nintendo fans, as we haven’t seen a new Rhythm Heaven since the 3DS. It turns out those fans have to wait a lot longer for it, as the game will be coming out in 2026.
Get a Switch 1 game in 2026, and that Switch 1 game is Rhythm Heaven Groove.
Saga Frontier 2 Remastered
One of the best-looking games from the PS1 era is now available on Switch. A somewhat controversial entry, as this game simplified progression to a certain degree, Saga Frontier 2 Remastered is now here for everyone to try.
JRPG fans can pick up Saga Frontier 2 Remastered later today.
Monument Valley 1 & 2
These classic puzzle games from the iPhone era are coming to Switch, looking better than ever. Fans of these titles will be happy to know that they will have all of the DLC, giving players a truly complete experience.
Both Monument Valley games are coming to Switch on April 15.
Everybody’s Golf Hotshots
For gamers who were disappointed with the most recent Mario Golf, Everybody’s Golf Hotshots is here to heal that pain. Another series that seemed like a PlayStation exclusive, Bandai Namco will once again publish this game now that it's coming to other systems.
Golfers can pick up Hotshots sometime this year.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion
It looks like Dotemu saw our feature about wanting an X-Men ‘97 beat-em-up and decided to make that happen. Marvel Cosmic Invasion will have players controlling a ton of Marvel Heroes as they stop, well, a cosmic invasion. With gorgeous visuals and fun-looking combat, this is the beat-em-up Marvel fans have been begging for.
Pick up Marvel Cosmic Invasion this Holiday season.
Tomadochi Life: Living the Dream
After a certain section of fans were disappointed with Miitopia, Tomadochi Life is here to make things better. Once again giving players a silly town where they can play out weird interactions, this odd series is finally coming to Switch and most likely Switch 2.
Nintendo fans will be able to live the dream sometime in 2026. That’s right, another Switch game coming in 2026.
