Star Wars might not be doing so hot in other mediums but their gaming presence could continue to grow as a new leak suggests Respawn Entertainment is working on a first-person Mandalorian game.
The initial report comes from Insider Gaming, who claim that the Apex Legends and Titanfall developers are currently working on a Mandalorian game that will put high emphasis on "mobility" and "style" by incorporating game mechanics such as regenerating HP by doing certain kinds of tricks like boost sliding and vertical jumping.
It makes sense that Respawn would focus on mobility as a key component in the Mandalorian game, considering that jetpacks are a common traversal tool for the characters in the show and you'd be pressed to find a better FPS developer that can make fast-paced combat as smooth as them, with Apex Legends and Titanfall 2 as two standout examples.
According to the report, you won't be playing as Din Djarin himself but as another unnamed Mandalorian bounty hunter. Furthermore, the game isn't being developed as an open world but is set to feature linear levels that will take you across different Star Wars locales.
Beyond jetpacks, other core elements of the gameplay will include traversal tools like a grappling hook, weapons like wrist rockets, and a visor to scan your environment for enemies and potentially other points of interest.
As for the release date, don't expect the Respawn Mandalorian game to come out anytime soon. At the very least, players can expect the title to drop in the next year or two according to Insider Gaming. Of course, this is not set in stone and plans can change so best not to get your hopes up for a tentative 2025 launch.
Before we even get to speculate about a potential release date we'll have to wait for an official announcement from either Respawn or Disney that the game is being worked on. Patience is key, this is the way.
