Batman: Arkham Shadow had a fantastic launch, with a 9.5 user score on Metacritic and a 100% critic recommendation on OpenCritic. This goes to show that although it is a VR game, it had the unique grittiness and charm all the Arkhamverse games had.
While the latest game from Camouflaj was well received by both VR and Batman fans, Batman: Arkham Shadow has performance issues and bugs that sometimes ruin the VR immersion.
Fortunately, Camouflaj has released the Update V1.1 which adds more quality-of-life improvements as well as major bug fixes. Here are the most notable updates from the recent dev blog post:
- Improved map
- Ability to skip additional cinematics
- Fixed issue preventing Administration door from opening
- Fixed objects not highlighting correctly in Detective Vision
- Improved rain VFX
- Added missing collectible icons on Rat Maps
- Fixed various UI display bugs, localized strings, and subtitles
This update will surely improve everyone's VR experience in Batman: Arkham Shadow. The game is also expected to have new content for the upcoming months as announced by Batman Arkham Videos via their X account.

Major Batman: Arkham Shadow spoiler coming up, please proceed with caution if you haven’t reached this part of the game. Otherwise, skip through to the end of this article.
If you have already finished the story of Batman: Arkham Shadow, you'll know that Harvey Dent was the Rat King before he officially became Two-Face.
He suffered from a psychological disorder that ran through his family and took Dr. Crane as his psychologist. This prompted Dr. Crane to experiment on Harvey using his experimental fear toxin which resulted in Harvey having the personalities of Two-Face.
Harvey then has to face Batman in the end as Batman tries to stop Harvey from killing Joe Chill, forcing the Dark Knight to reveal that he is Bruce Wayne. This ended in Harvey Dent being hospitalized, which is part of the epilogue of the game.
How this ties to the story of Arkhamverse is something that will be revealed in January. Bruce had to face the reality that he had lost his longtime friend Harvey and would have to face him as Two-Face from here on out.
The lore could possibly expand on how Scarecrow is slowly becoming the ultimate villain in the Arkhamverse.
We might see an extended cut of the scene where Harvey fully acknowledges his Two-Face persona and leaves the hospital or more details about the wayward Rat Bruce is searching for—possibly one of the Robins, like Dick Grayson or Jason Todd.
