Though Elden Ring players continue to get a lot of mileage out of the game, mainly thanks to mods and bizarre challenge runs, as they wait for more news on its highly-anticipated DLC, many FromSoft fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Armored Core 6.
The latter is set to land later this week and treat players to plenty of action-packed and colourfully-rendered mech battles, each of which will feature enough explosions and energy blasts to decimate a small neighbourhood.
While many prospective players have recently been busy debating whether tank builds could end up being an overpowered option in one-on-one PVP matchups, others have decided not to waste time worrying about the meta and instead try to come up with the mech version of a classic soulsborne build.
Are you planning on adopting an Elden Ring-inspired mech build in Armored Core 6?
User Particular-Lie-4500 kicked off the discussion in question on the Armored Core subreddit, by asking the immortal question: “What is the equivalent of naked with a stick?”
“So, I am a Fromsoftware fan since the times of Bloodborne and have played most of the souls games, [including] Elden Ring,” they explained in their post, continuing: “Armored Core 6 is going to be my first Armored Core game and I wanted to know if there is a [mech] build that just fills you with as much sheer terror as seeing a naked [character] with a stick invading your [game]?”
Naturally, the subreddit’s mech experts (or mexperts, if you will) have responded to their request by coming up with a bunch of unorthodox designs you wouldn’t want to run into in a dark alleyway.
“If I saw someone with only a chainsaw/pile bunker, or fists only, I’d be very cautious,” suggested user PXL-pushr, adding: “[I’d think] either this [player] is trolling, or I’ve just stepped into the ring with a god.”
On the other hand, user Barblesnott_Jr went for something terrifyingly specific, describing a mech with: “Blade in one hand, rifle in the other, no back or shoulder weapons equipped. A paint scheme that looks like it got puked on by a troupe of clowns. With that, you will be the most terrifying thing anyone has ever seen.”
In addition to this group describing what their worst in-game nightmares would look like, some fans in another thread have already begun brainstorming challenge run ideas that could rival the wacky efforts of Elden Ring’s streaming community.
