Baldur’s Gate 3 players are now attempting sex-based speedruns, with the record already being under ten minutes

Now that it’s finally emerged from early access, Baldur’s Gate 3 has already surpassed a lot of expectations, having attracted a huge amount of players keen to embark on the journey to its highest levels.

Despite some bizarre achievement issues and unhappiness over the endings on offer for one of its key characters, the general verdict on the game has been extremely positive and its modding scene is already in full swing.

While some players have already begun discussing what they’d like to see from any official DLC or expansions, others have already taken it upon themselves to find interesting ways to spice up their playthroughs, with a couple having decided to try and score the fastest sex% speedrun.

Ever wondered just how quickly you can romance one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s companions?

As spotted by PC Gamer, Baldur’s Gate 3’s Speedrun.com page now boasts an official romance% category, which, as you might imagine, is predicated around getting down and dirty in the most rapid fashion possible.

The current world record for a run of this type, the rules for which were originally conceived by content creator Th3Vale, now stands at just 7 minutes and 54 seconds, thanks to the efforts of Mae, the speedrunner who also holds the current any% record for the game.

As you can check out below, the rapidness of their raunchy run relies heavily on the use of the same Gale-based enhanced leap exploit that took them to any% glory in just over ten minutes, allowing them to jump through areas in huge bounds that save plenty of time.

There are still some combat sections that they couldn’t avoid completing in fairly regular fashion in their quest to earn their character, fittingly named Gigachad Thundercock, an evening of fun with Lae'zel.

Naturally, this means rescuing the Githyanki companion and quickly earning her favour by, among other things, being very mean to a Tiefling named Zorru, before taking a rest and letting the sexy times commence.

“This was originally a 5 hour endeavour, then 2 hours, then 20 minutes, and now 8 minutes. [I’m] hoping it continues to go further down from here!” Mae explained in the video’s description.

They also added that they’re in the process of preparing for a Bear% speedrun through the game, declaring: “yes, it's exactly what it sounds like, you get to that scene as fast as possible.”

While there’s already an official Bear% category on the game’s Speedrun.com page, it lacks any entries as of writing, suggesting that Mae could end up being the first to etch their name in history as a brisk bear romancer. It’s certainly something to tell your grandkids, I guess.
