Call of Duty actor passes away at age 56

Some unfortunate news has surfaced from the festive season, as Call of Duty actor Kamar de los Reyes has sadly passed away at the age of 56. As confirmed by his wife, Locke and Key actor Sherri Saum, the actor lost his battle with cancer on December 24, 2023.

As confirmed by Saum's publicist to Variety, Puerto Rican-born De los Reyes passed away after a brief battle with cancer the day before Christmas. He is known around the entertainment world for his acting in various mediums, including a stint in a 1995 production of Shakespeare's The Tempest alongside legendary actor Patrick Stewart.

De los Reyes is best known in the gaming world for portraying one of Call of Duty's best villains, providing his voice for Black Ops character Raul Menendez. His character drove the campaign mode in Call of Duty Black Ops 2 as the game's main antagonist, a role which he also reprised in the Black Ops 4 and Vanguard instalments of the franchise as well.

He is also known throughout the entertainment world for multiple acting performances, including roles in One Life to Live, Sleepy Hollow and The Rookie. The former was his first major breakout role, playing Antonio Vega in the series for over three years.

The news of de los Reyes' passing also has an impact on Marvel Studios, as his wife's publicist confirmed that he was set to make appearances in a future title. While it was not specified which role he would reprise, he was preparing to be a member of the cast of the upcoming TV series Daredevil: Born Again.

De los Reyes is survived by his wife and three sons, including a set of twins, two brothers, and both of his parents. The gaming community will undoubtedly be honouring his contributions in bringing one of the most iconic bad guys in Call of Duty to life.
