Microsoft’s multi-billion dollar acquisition of Activision Blizzard King (ABK) continues to rumble on thanks to Sony’s continued interference. Despite the best efforts of the PlayStation manufacturer, Microsoft is intent on acquiring the Call of Duty publisher.
Although the attention of Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 fans is switching to Season Two Reloaded, the focus of Sony is to prevent Microsoft’s deal from going through. While Sony is opposed to the acquisition, the Xbox manufacturer is already showcasing how the deal will benefit the gaming industry.
The latest development sees Sony claim Microsoft will deliberately add game-breaking bugs to the PlayStation version of Call of Duty in a bid to move players onto PC and Xbox platforms.
Deliberately adding bugs in Call of Duty?
The statement comes from yet another industry regulator statement and Sony which is stooping to new levels to halt Microsoft’s plan. “Microsoft might release a PlayStation version of Call of Duty where bugs and errors emerge only on the game’s final level or after later updates,” reads the statement.
Call of Duty fans were quick to suggest that deliberate sabotage isn’t new when it comes to Call of Duty. “Maybe they are doing it already,” suggests one fan. Considering Xbox and PlayStation use almost identical hardware, Sony claiming Microsoft will alter the performance of games on other platforms makes little sense.
While Sony continues its efforts against Microsoft, the American tech giant has already inked a ten-year deal with Nintendo to bring the legendary shooter franchise to Switch for the very first time. Although it’s an exciting prospect, many fans think the Switch isn’t capable of running Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2 smoothly. However, Microsoft claims both titles can run on Nintendo’s console but the company doesn’t reveal if it runs without issue.
